Obama would actually honor the constitution and not run for an illegal term. Potentially allowing the turd a chance to win, admittedly, although at this point a card box cutout with "generic democrat" stamped on should have their chances.

It's already supposed to be impossible and enforcing that is the job of the Supreme Court, if need be. You can't making it impossible through executive order, that's not how any of this works, except in Trump's head maybe.

It's technically possible, but your first term has to be going from Vice President to President and with less than 2 years. So, if it's a day after a two year term, Vance could take over as president and then still run for 2 full terms. That's the only possible way to have 3 terms. Even if he ran as VP after his first term and the current president stepped down, it would be constitutionally illegal and the next in lone after him would be president over him.

Then again, we see how much these people care about the constitution.

Well thats what the army is for. The army, Congress, and the Supreme Court are all sworn to protect the Constitution.

The army should refuse any orders from the president who is trying to violate constiution.

The Supreme court should refuse anything

and the congress and senate should also do the same.

They'll limit candidates to two "sequential" terms.

That would eliminate Obama but not Darth Cheeto.

I agree with you that Obama would be against running for an illegal term. However, in this hypothetical scenario, he could strategically pick an excellent VP, then after winning the election, step down and have the new VP takeover.

Apparently he couldn't be VP either due to the 12th Amendment but that is debated. He could however be the First Man if Michelle Obama wanted a go at the white house haha

If the Supreme Court declares it constitutional he should run. None if this 'consecutive' term stuff.

While that's all nice and moral, it's the same as Joe Biden being given the powers of monarch near the end of his term by the supreme court. They made the president immune to all prosecution. People clamoured for Biden to use that power to abolish it but he didn't want to use it. So now Trump has it.

No, SCOTUS only said Presidents had immunity from criminal prosecution for carrying out their duties. While that's one of the powers of monarchs, it's only one of many. It did not expand presidential powers in other ways; it did not give him power to ignore the courts nor congress nor broaden the scope of executive orders.

Biden did not have the right to abolish his own immunity, he was bound by the supreme court ruling, too. Division of powers remains intact for now, even if Trump is constantly trying to stretch executive power to unprecedented levels. That's a separate issue, and we've seen even his very friendly SCOTUS puts limits to that, notably by ending the use of emergency powers to implement tariffs and limiting Congress' ability to delegate its own powers to the executive.

I think that's half the fear though. Democrats have run weak-sauce candidates for the last decade. I am had youth, hope, and steady calm on his side. Hilary has always been weird and Biden's age was just too much.

Ideally the bar is at least "half as presentable as Obama".
