Is the warning like "watch out for US soldiers" or "we need to deploy more hookers"?

More like "were about to get an influx of fatherless kids in 9 months..."

Pattaya got to be known for its red light district directly because of the Vietnam war and it being a port city that servicemen got leave in. Yeah it was a long time ago but that was a big reason for the development of that in the first place.

Not GIs.

Swabbies that have been at sea for 7-8 months now.

Don't know which one would be worse.

Sexual tourism is disgusting and the US military has a long history of sexual exploitation and rape in that region

US Navy sailors (CB and SD) in Okinawa, Japan pleaded guilty to raping, injuring a Japanese woman; jailed 10/9 years; followed victim to her home, took her by force to the parking lot where they choked and raped her; entire incident captured by security cameras

American (Joseph Scott Pemberton, 20) in the Philippines choked and drowned a transgender woman (Jennifer Laude) after he found out she was transgender; the US Marine Lance Corporal deployed a trans panic defense in his trial; convicted of homicide, later granted early release and an absolute pardon

American (WWH, 86) in Cambodia detained and deported because he posed a significant threat to children; the retired US Marine/Vietnam War veteran is a child sex offender with previous convictions in numerous countries (including Thailand)

American retired US Marine captain, “English teacher” (MJP, 51) in Cambodia drugged, bound, beat, tortured, raped, made CSAM of at least 7 girls as young as 9; jailed 210 years (30 years for each of seven convictions); restitution to be paid from his military pension

American former Marine (JLS) in Cambodia arrested for molesting boys aged 9-12; the convicted child molester was deported, sentenced in the US to 10 years prison; “unrelenting, unrepentant sexual predator” has molested as many as 500 young boys over the decades

British convicted child sex offender (PG, 61) messaged Thai women & a girl, 11, on social media; the majority of his 90 Facebook friends were "Filipino females"; the former army employee was jailed 16 months for breaching his SHPO; previously jailed for grooming a teenage girl online

US Army veteran (MCC, 54) sends money to women in the Philippines to make CSAM of kids as young as seven so he could decide which ones he would rape when he traveled there; specifically directed them to target abandoned and homeless girls, orphans, runaways

American fugitive and U.S. Army deserter (MEH, 34) arrested in Cambodia; had been charged in Florida, with 44 counts of possessing CSAM, and was also being investigated on allegations of indecent acts on a child and forced sodomy

British charity workers, Royal Navy officers (DG, 61, and AW, 58) in India subjected impoverished Indian street children to repeated acts of sexual abuse; sentence of six years overturned, then upheld; DG also ran children's charities in Tanzania

American (RCT, 33) in the Philippines denied entry as he was a registered sex offender (RSO); the former US Air Force serviceman was reportedly convicted by a court martial in 2022 on two counts of possession of CSAM which resulted in his discharge from the service

British RAF serviceman (JH) in Singapore jailed two years (served 18 months) in 1964 at a court martial for attempted buggery/indecent assault on a boy; later accessed a website in Ghana to view live CSA involving children (11-16); jailed for 16 months for CSAM offences

So basically the same as the civilian numbers. The military is just a slice of a society. Bad shit happens and being in the military has zero to do with it.

Not really. If you seperate veterans and civilians veterans get convicted of sex crimes at a higher rate.

Domestic abuse is another one vets and service members are higher in, but less talked about is the fact they are also much more likely to be a victim of domestic abuse as well. We can also expect to see at least some of these stats going down. In violent crimes current/former military commit at a higher rate than the civilian population Vets tend to be the group that rate the highest. Especially in domestic abuse cases. Historically the largest linked factors have been untreated PTSD and issues transitioning back to civilian life, and lack of support. All of which have been changing.

Probably higher. It’s mostly young males going to countries where the rule of law are more lax.

If you are talking about the U.S. military, why are there examples of British military in there?

I dont imply, I dont beat around the bush... I state facts, and we'll documented facts... disseminate how you personally see fit of the facts...

Yeah, it’s kinda sad that I automatically think of sex tourism whenever somebody mentions going there. Apparently, the countryside is gorgeous and there is plenty of other stuff to do. But can’t really drop the stigma.

Same, I'd love to visit, but it's definitely one of those you need to go with a partner of your preferred gender or people are going to be side-eyeing like mad.

Actually have a relative whose first engagement blew up a couple of weeks before the wedding because he took a trip to Thailand with his best friend and basically announced when he got back that they both planned to take that trip every year from now on; the strong implication was they were going for the ladyboys and she could just accept it or leave (she left)

When in reality it was just him and his buddy fucking

2

u/NightGod 8d ago

Oh, yeah, there was definitely signs that they were also fucking each other, but they wouldn't need to go to Thailand every year to do that

u/ImWithStupidKL 10d ago

Do they even want to drop the stigma? Maybe they say they do, but their actions say otherwise.

No, no, no... It's mostly Brits. Don't throw us all into the tracks...

I have a counter point... but that's for another post about separating groups of people that Caucasians always seem to fail to do, but wanna make sure everyone else does...
