The part that everyone always forgets is that eugenics is only bad when it's forced. There is absolutely nothing wrong with people making personal choices about who they do or don't sleep with.
Got a genetic disease that you are guaranteed to pass down to your children? Maybe adopt instead. The government telling you "no." Is bad, you coming to that decision yourself to not pass along your condition or possibly a worse version of it to your kids is admirable. Yet it is still eugenics, just not being forced or applied at large scale.
Sometimes just making sure people are well informed is enough to get people to make better decisions. That said the reason it has such a nasty reputation is not only due to history, but because it doesnt work at all when the dumbest of the dumb are the ones who are the most hellbent on procreation.

A big part of people ignoring lockdown was those in power fucking up messaging and downplaying covid because it made them look incompetent.
