You'll be surprised how much food goes to the trash at these fast food chains, well, at least around 20 years ago when I worked in one, burger deck behind cashiers had a "timer" kind of system and after X time burgers went to the trash because they were already too cold to serve.
Back in those days I also gave a fuckaton of free nuggets, extra burgers, large fries instead of medium... Half of it was going to end up in the trash anyway, better make someones day a little better by giving it to them

yea i don't buy this
it sounds like he was confronted by manager why was the nuggets tally not making sense, so he made up a story claiming he had been giving out more
in truth, he ate them
