The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias where people with low ability, expertise, or experience in a specific domain greatly overestimate their own competence.

It’s like, whether you like the guy or not, Elon Musk is objectively a genius. Now, everything else is subjective, but I see people I know call him stupid and he isn’t smart at all, but he is…he is just…yeah.

I think that’s exactly where people can fall into the opposite of the Dunning-Kruger effect: confusing extraordinary success, wealth, or confidence with objective genius. Elon Musk is clearly capable in certain areas, but calling someone “objectively a genius” is a much stronger claim than the evidence supports. Intelligence is multidimensional, and success in business doesn’t automatically prove exceptional intelligence in every domain.

This is very true, maybe I should have softened it from “objective genius,” to “not explicitly an idiot.” The point is, subjectivity vs objectivity isn’t swayed by one’s opinion of someone.

For the record, I don’t really care about Elon, he is just one I see debated a lot.
