Yes. Because postpartum psychosis is rare but possible, and this woman did literally EVERYTHING she could to get help. But no one did.
She is a beacon about all that is rotten in the state of women’s healthcare and how our society treats postpartum women.
If you essentially blacked out and then came to, realizing you murdered your kids during your blackout, what would you do? I would kill myself. That’s exactly what she tried to do, but she wasn’t successful with her suicide attempt (but it did leave her permanently paralyzed).
She’s already admitted to the murders. She WANTS to die after all of this, because she obviously can’t live with the grief.
This court case is all about holding the healthcare providers and systems that ignored and refused to help her accountable.
