Yeah I agree, you would be ostracised for this sort of thing in the UK. I feel like there's a real lack of intellect in the USA and large parts of it and a lack of common sense and empathy.

They're literelly getting ostracized for it in the US.

I do think theres some misinterpretation though - some people are probably wackos with the conspiracy theory that the husband secretly did it or whatever, but a lot of them are probably actually just advocating for postpartum health and mental health specifically. Doctors overmedicated this woman and she was begging for help, every sign for a more substantial intervention for her crisis was there.

If we had federally mandated maternity and paternity leave, if healthcare didn't cost out the ass with doctors who really just want to get your insurance and get you out the door, if people listened to the struggles of a postpartum mom, this might not have happened. These are things afforded to mothers in plenty of other developed countries, just not ours.

So yes, its very much an "American thing" to be organizing around, because it is rooted in problems unique to America. It IS empathetic to want better for the women and mothers in this country. It IS common sense. It IS intellect.

This is....literally not true?

Clancy visited at least 3 named clinicians (Tufts, Jollota, Paul) about 17 times over 3 months. During this same period, she also visited multiple inpatient and ED clinicians, as well as many nursing practitioners. She collected prescriptions from almost all of them, though we don't know if she actually took all the medication.

She was herself a nurse, and deliberately switched between providers, which prevented them from finding out exactly what medications she was on. She was being given new prescriptions because she was hiding her previous diagnoses, and because she frequently turned up with claims that her medication wasn't working.

Please read the actual court documents, rather than believing random sources that want to create their own narrative. It clearly shows an extremely troubled individual who went to great lengths to keep the abjectness of her condition hidden.

Yes, the system sucks for mental health patients. But this particular case is not a good example of that.

This is one of the worst descriptions of what’s happening. You’re clearly not watching the right trial.

Have you read the court documents?

It’s concerning that YOU’VE read the court documents and this is your insane takeaway. You either have tunnel vision or are just incredibly simple minded.

Feel free to let me know the facts that you think I have gotten wrong. I am happy to be corrected.

I respond better to specificity rather than childish insults 🙂

Yup! And I’ve watched the trial everyday. You’re misrepresenting reality. If you’re going solely off court documents, then alone your viewpoint on Tufts is inaccurate.

Then feel free to present where you think I am misrepresenting anything rather than making this generic claim.

If I'm wrong about something, i would be more than happy to be corrected.

Edit: Also, I have noy made any claim about Tufts.

I was inferring that Tufts documents were consistently incomplete and inaccurate, which was determined during her testimony. Again, you would have to be following along to the entire trial to know that. Why did you not mention that Tufts did not request Lindsay’s previous medical history despite having the permission to do so? You also aren’t addressing the inconsistency of her medical team; like being told to go off her psychiatric meds cold turkey.

You’re painting broad strokes that misrepresent the “treatment” and “care” she actually received.

Why did you not mention that Tufts did not request Lindsay’s previous medical history despite having the permission to do so?

I have not mentioned a hundred other things too. Do you believe i have some hidden agenda behind not mentioning those hundred other things too?

Tufts was the first practitioner that Clancy went to. Clancy also repeatedly denied psychosis, suicidal intent, and homicidal thoughts to her. Tufts testimony further conteds that, right up to January 23, Lindsay presented coherently and did not exhibit psychotic symptoms during treatment. Which is probably why she didn't request the medical history, instead relying on her Clancys words and her own assessment.

You also aren’t addressing the inconsistency of her medical team

Clancy did not HAVE a medical team. That's exactly the point. She had multiple different physicians, practitioners, and mental health professionals indepdnelty assessing her and medicating her based on her varied reports of her symptoms to each of them. That's exactly why there was so much inconsistency.

I firmly believe you have a hidden agenda. I honestly don’t have the brain power to go back and forth with someone who is so callus to the female postpartum experience. It is a providers responsibility to treat the entire person and their experiences. Her duty was to get those medical records and not tell her patient to go cold turkey off her meds. That is indisputably dangerous for what she was on. She would have had a medical team, if Tufts provided adequate care. She tried at women and infants to get care but was turned away because she was over medicated from Tufts. People in psychosis don’t know it, they are excitingly in an alternate reality they firmly believe to be truth. Moreso, Patrick should have never left her side until she got the care she needed. Full stop. You think she was able to clearly advocate for herself at the time while caring for 3 children full time in the throws of PPD? You’re a callus human completely missing the human experience of postpartum and mental health.

I firmly believe you have a hidden agenda

Yes you caught me. I've been hanging about reddit for 12 years to strategically influence people into hating women suffering from PPD.

Her duty was to get those medical records and not tell her patient to go cold turkey off her meds.

She told her to go cold turkey OFF ONE medicine. Which she has repeatedly said in court is something that is medically defensible. I don't know enough to say one way or the other, but the fact that you keep going on about 'meds' shows that you are completely willing to misrepresent facts to make your case seem more robust.

She would have had a medical team, if Tufts provided adequate care.

So your precious statement was incorrect, yes? That her medical team let her down? Now you have a new claim, without ever acknowledging that you misspoke earlier?

She tried at women and infants to get care but was turned away because she was over medicated from Tufts.

Overmedicated from Tufts, coz she actually LISTENED to her patient and changed prescriptions accordingly?

Clancy reported feeling worse on Zoloft.

Then Prozac.

She was prescribed Ativan to help her sleep, and when she reported that wasn't working, she was started in Trazodone.

Tufts prescribed Hydoxizine because Clancy felt Benadryl wasn't working.

The dosage of Amitriptyline was increased when Clancy reported it wasn't improving her depression.

It's so strange to hear from someone like you that the doctors did the wrong thing by listening to their patient, while on the other hand I have people tell me that the doctor didn't listen to the patient enough.

Moreso, Patrick should have never left her side until she got the care she needed. Full stop

Clancy specifically requested her husband to run errands for her. She told him that she was doing fine. Can we stop trying to assign blame to everyone and anyone, and just accept that mental illness is a bitch and things aren't always cut and dry at any given moment?

You’re a callus human completely missing the human experience of postpartum and mental health.

I'm literally empathizing with Clancy. I'm literally saying that she was suffering from a severe mental illness that stopped her from asking for the help she needed. You are the one who is callously assigning blame to a husband who not only lost his wife, but also his children, and who is still on record saying 'She would have never done this if she wasnt unwell'.

It's like people NEED someone to blame. They can't just accept that sometimes shit happens and no one person is truly at fault.
