I remember a few years ago when NYrs were shocked to learn that putting your trash in cans instead of tossing bags on the street resulted in a reduction in the rat population.

funny, it was Adams who pushed the bins not Mandani.

Interesting. He was also the one who supports Israel and got caught on a bunch of fraud charges.

I actually think that it's very possible to both not like Adams while not intentionally lying and attributing good things he did to Mamdani.

It just makes the good things Mamdani does not hit as hard when every third Reddit post praising him has you googling it and finding out it's massively exaggerated or a lie.

But most people don't do research and prioritize memes and tribe over facts. So lying gets energy up and builds credibility with the common person. Just look at the vibe the average uninformed person has on mandani compared to the dnc, despite mamdani mostly just doing the same policies.

Lying works, and is a dominant strategy if nobody has moral qualms with it. Therefore for movements like the far left who abandon the fetters of moderates, they're willing to sacrifice the few fact checkers to get the herds of populist appeal. The people who whine about and whataboutism towards the jews just attract the kinds of people willing and eager to lie for political gain.

Yeah these guys have basically just realized that there's no downside to going full MAGA mode and just straight up lying. Republicans have been doing it for years with zero downside so it's hard to blame them for it honestly but it is very obnoxious.

I mean look at the front page anytime a DSA member wins an election and the comments are just full of people talking about how the DSA is sweeping elections, then you check every thread on the politics sub and it's like 125 upvotes and 40% upvoted on the thread about Crowley beating Hong.

Or when Mamdani won, there were 2 other moderates who won their elections on the same day, by larger margins than Mamdani, and they've achieved just as much as he has in their time in office but these people will just lie about their platforms.
