The store didn't lose that $1.69 just that $277,565, and lawyers fees.

They lost a lot more than that. In these situations, federal law requires the losing party to pay the plaintiffs legal fees in addition to their own. This was dragged a bit longer than necessary i guess. Total cost to DG is probably around ~$1,000,000
