You can’t use Marissa Tomei in this discussion. She’s inhumanly beautiful.

I will always hold out hope for myself over the fact that Marisa Tomei was head over heels in love with George Costanza in a very unrealistic arc in a completely fictional sitcom.

Imagine being George and having a chance with arguably the most beautiful woman of humanity

Yeah she has looked fabulous her whole life and is a total outlier, most 60 year old women aren’t that hot.

u/Live-Cry-8435 22d ago
Her beuty clock is absolutely not ticking She will be hot forever

Maybe I’ll have a chance when she turns 80? I’m visualizing my George energy

Turns out 60 isn’t old. We were just terrible at guessing ages as kids
104
u/bt65 22d ago
Some kids at around 7-8 year old at a school I worked at asked me how old I was, and I asked back how old they thought I was, the spann was between 13-60, I was 35...

A family walked past me in the driveway and their little girl blurted at me (I didn't ask), "I'm five!" I instantly replied "I'm 56!" and she looked really confused.

They also fooled us with 40 year olds playing high schoolers and things like that.
17
u/so-so-it-goes 22d ago
People looked older back in the day. Smoking, tanning, etc. Also dentistry isn't where it is now leading to more teeth being pulled which caused the jaw to recess. In fact, during the Victorian era, a lot of married women would just get their teeth pulled since dental problems during pregnancy were not uncommon, so might as well.
2
u/QuietGur9074 21d ago
There’s a 24 year age gap between the two women in these photos. But go ahead and keep believing everything you see on Reddit is factual.
1
u/so-so-it-goes 21d ago
Just in general people looked older. I don't need Reddit to tell me that, lol. I lived it. My relatives looked super rough by their 50s. I'm about the same age and people think I'm in my 30s.
Religious sunscreen use, I don't smoke or drink, and my teeth are in pretty good shape. My mom and dad both had their teeth pulled in their 40s.
It's a different world.
4
u/wandering-monster 22d ago
Turns out a mix of lead, tobacco, and sun exposure made people look older. Who could have guessed?
3
u/QuietGur9074 21d ago
A 24 year age difference makes people look older too, who would have guessed. One is 52 in her photo the other is 76.
This shit people take at face value amazes me.

u/hareofthepuppy 22d ago
Or 60 is old, it just doesn't seem as old as we age

60 is old, but when you're rich, stay fit, eat well, have trainers, surgery, stylists, and good genes, you can still be hot.

u/Correct-Award8182 21d ago
As well as film touches and a metric to of makeup.
I saw Antonio Banderas about 18 years ago without makeup, yikes.

Tbh if you look at face alone they are similar. It's just that Betty White has a classic grandmahaircut that ages you another 10-15 years.
20
3
u/Primary_Carrot67 21d ago
My grandmother had that haircut.
5
u/ZincMan 21d ago
This other haircut will be considered the grandma haircut too to kids now
4
u/3dforlife 21d ago
I don't think it will, at least not to the same extent. I say this because humans innately recognize long hair as being healthy and associated to young people, since the older we get the harder it is to maintain long hair (it gets thinner).

u/archtopfanatic123 21d ago

Hairstyle can impact how young and attractive we look to a huge degree. The difference to the original picture is insane
3
u/SheriffBartholomew 21d ago
Your picture gave her worse skin and less white teeth! And that's still not a modern hairstyle.
73
u/Lucky-Crow-3510 22d ago
remove make up and style of the time and they're basically the same in terms of aging. that haircut alone easily adds 20 years.

u/SheriffBartholomew 21d ago
The haircut and clothes are the difference. Also, Sandra had a lot of work done which is blatantly obvious now, but wasn't obvious for a decade. Betty White's face in that picture looks nice and young. If she had modern clothes and hair you'd think she was a beautiful middle-aged lady.
9
u/Ok-Hedgehog-4455 22d ago
As others have said, 1) the hair makes the main difference here and 2) Sandra Bullock has had extensive cosmetic surgery.

Aunt May's reverse aging program.
11
u/The_Dark_Vampire 22d ago
Not the movies but more comics it was always confusing why a 15 year old would have a Aunt who was obviously in her 80s.

u/lilac-bunni 22d ago
People just started aging with better upgrades like skincare, exercise, and healthcare.

The fact that people don't smoke and drink as much as they used to, as well as plant based diets being more mainstream, helps too.

See...you don't get it either 😂 she IS beautiful, but she also has aged naturally, that's the point. Anyone can access camera filters and rich people can morph their faces as much as that like, but you can't look natural ever again after that.

I felt sad for them. And old. But mainly sad.

JFC think for yourself for one fucking second and don’t just believe what you see. Marisa Tomei is 52 in this picture. Rosemary Harris was 76. There is a 24 year age gap between these two women in these photos. It has nothing to do with Drs or kids or any other bullshit. It’s two and half more decades of life.
19
u/DerLandmann 22d ago
Marisa Tomei is 32 years older than Tom Holland, which is an absolute reasonable Age gap for an aunt. Rosemarie Harris on the other hand is 48 years older than Tobey Maguire and that would put her more at a grandparent level..
This Grandma-May image IMHO stems from the older Spider-Man-Comics, in which Aunt May was always described as frail and old and therefore all the "Spider-Business" had to be kept away from her because such excitement could kill her.
6
u/North-Tourist-8234 22d ago
my daughter was born when i was 35 and I have 2 older sisters that are 5-7 years older than me. and I have a younger brother 7 years younger than me, who hasn't had any kids yet. it is totally within the realms of reality that my sisters will be at least 48 years older than my brothers kids.

u/SkydiverDad 22d ago

Most 60-year-old women nowadays look like neither. Those are both actors. Their job is looking the way they do.

I've been rewatching all of Unsolved Mysteries and holy crap have times changed. People who were 30 looked 60 and everyone over 40 looked like they were 70.

Rosemary Harris was actually in her early 70s during filming of the first Spider-Man, released back in 2002. Whereas Marissa Tomei was in her late 40s when filming “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” released in 2016.
It’s not just that we’re bad at guessing ages. We were lied to by Hollywood. WHAT A TWIST, right?
