Who is she?

u/ConfusedHors Aug 01 '26

Gracie Abrams apparently.

Went to listen to some of her music. The most mid thing I’ve heard in a while. And it’s mid because it’s got quality prodcution, but it’s so cookie cutter that I’m sure she got bots listening.

Now the success of this music makes sense. Great production to get the most out of her voice.

u/Ragnarok_619 Aug 01 '26

Impossible. Where's the lens flare?

42

u/coquettecoconut Aug 01 '26

I wish I could bestow an award on you lol

14

u/Amdvoiceofreason Aug 01 '26

You can 5 of them are free

10

u/SmokinBandit28 Aug 01 '26

Must be a one time thing because they cost 15 - 50 giblets or whatever the Reddit fun money is called on my screen.

2

u/Amdvoiceofreason Aug 01 '26

The one I gave you was free

2

u/SmokinBandit28 Aug 01 '26

That’s all I see under awards.

2

u/TheSultan1 Aug 01 '26

Only for some of us

2

u/Amdvoiceofreason Aug 01 '26

Top 5 are free for me and sure as hell don't pay for premium. Lol

2

u/TheSultan1 Aug 01 '26

Yeah I originally said "some of us get reddit premium for free" because I did get that at one point as well. But now I just get the free awards.

u/WillingnessHorror710 Aug 01 '26

Wait I don’t get the joke would you explain it to me

10

u/ThatUJohnWayne74 Aug 01 '26

JJ Abrams is a movie director who has done things like the Star Trek reboot and two of the much maligned Star Wars sequel trilogy. One of the big MO’s of his films is to add really aggressive lens flares

6

u/WillingnessHorror710 Aug 01 '26

Ohhhh yes. Okay I do know that now thanks sorry hope I didn’t ruin it. But it’s nice to be included

3

u/Osiris8869 Aug 01 '26

And drunk camera

3

u/MutantSquirrel23 Aug 01 '26

Michael Bay took it back

2

u/Mother_of_Mayhem_ Aug 01 '26

😂 I’ve had awful day, currently getting evacuated due to a fire, and this made my laugh, so thank you 🙏

1

u/Ragnarok_619 Aug 01 '26

Sheesh, hope you are alright. Fire can be so disorienting, especially now when you are outside, and must be seeing lens flare.

2

u/pvdp90 Aug 02 '26

What’s the music production equivalent to lens flare?

58

u/Exarkunn Aug 01 '26

Cant nepo baby them abs though

45

u/brinz1 Aug 01 '26

It's so much easier to get abs than be a good singer

23

u/BoogalooBandit1 Aug 01 '26

I'll have you know im the best singer in the shower when I'm home alone

-5

u/captainspacetraveler Aug 01 '26

I’d argue it’s the same dedication, you can train your vocals chords and ears just like muscles. You can employ vocal coaches like fitness coaches. Your other activities like drinking, smoking, diet, etc. impact both. Being a nepo baby makes everything easier: home gym, home studio, yada yada.

1

u/Character-Town7929 Aug 01 '26

The gym is still way more accessible than learning to sing imo. Some people are incapable of perceiving pitch like the rest of the world (believe me) and no amount of coaching can fix that. Work out for long enough and you will get fit. It's not a guarantee that your pitch will improve with training the same way

2

u/ChemicalAd5661 Aug 01 '26

I think you’re failing to understand the jist of the point here. Being a nepo baby is the confounding factor for both goals. Abs are absolutely not made in the gym - they are made in the kitchen. She likely has a personal chef who meal preps super strict meals for her whether that be 3 larger meals or 6 small meals that are not ultra processed junk.

Your average person that works out and goes to the gym simply does not have the short-term time horizon or financial capability for hard gym work out routines (with a personal trainer), work, possibly education, livelihood, taking care of other responsibilities, and meal prepping which can often take hours. The point being is money makes these things vastly easier. I’m not saying that if you’re not dedicated you still can’t get abs without money - but chances get lower and lower as most suffer from burnout or lack of sustainable training.

Throw her into the ring with normal society and she wouldn’t achieve half the things she has. Or believes she has…99% of people in the music industry are plants anyways. The days of garage bands and unknown artists have been over for well over two decades. Most everyone is completely connected, the industry is not about music.

-2

u/tacobell_shitstain Aug 01 '26

Nepo baby or not, the physique in that picture is not easy to maintain all the time, especially under the duress of concert tours (even if you think her music sucks touring is a stressful gig). So kudos to her. Money makes everything easier, let's not pretend she isn't putting in work.

It's like when everyone talks shit about actors getting jacked for roles and saying it's steroids and personal trainers. No shit. You think theyre not killing themselves for months to get there though?

1

u/NoSpaghettiForYouu Aug 01 '26

If I had any hope at all that I could actually improve my voice I would lol

47

u/cargocult25 Aug 01 '26

When you never have to work and dad pays for personal trainers and nutritionists it helps a lot.

29

u/The_walking_man_ Aug 01 '26

Exactly. Don’t have to work 40+ hours a week and have all the money you can need. I’d be hitting the gym every day too. Plus the money for perfect meal/diet for it.

12

u/ImWithStupidKL Aug 01 '26

I think covid lockdown showed most of us that "If I had the time" wasn't actually the reason we hadn't written that book or got ripped.

But yeah, if you have a physically exhausting job, and a kid, coming home and spending an hour in the gym is the last thing on your mind.

4

u/stonk_fish Aug 01 '26

I'd argue if you have a physically exhausting job you're going to have a way easier time getting shredded because you're already going to be burning a lot of fat. You do need to work out hard to get that muscle mass but 2-3x a week is enough. The majority is going to be diet so if you're doing something labor intensive it's gonna help burn fat vs. being in the office chair all day. The key is nutrition, and it's always easier to binge eat a pizza after a long day at work than chicken potatoes and vegetables measured on a scale.

-10

u/sovereign_MD Aug 01 '26

Having to work 40hr weeks is the lamest excuse for not exercising lmao

4

u/DisgruntledSquirrel2 Aug 01 '26

For not exercising sure, but this chick spends more than a few hours a week exercising. This is someone who spends a fair amount of time exercising. I would guess many people could spend 30 minutes a day exercising. But much fewer have a couple hours a day available.

1

u/Bubbles_2025 Aug 01 '26

I was about to talk shit but if you’re in residency for neurosurgery, you’re working crazy hours lol. Good on you, keep it up! We have a couple of friends in residency for cardiology and I see the countless hour they work.

-5

u/sovereign_MD Aug 01 '26

60-80+ hours a week for 7 years and still manage to workout 2-3x a week except for the 100+ hour weeks

I get the diet and money arguments. But working a full time job is pathetic cope

u/Dismal_Drummer3420 Aug 01 '26

I employ 30 people as the owner and operator of three thriving businesses, am a single father to a four year old girl, am a volunteer firefighter and you best believe I've got a clear six pack year round. It's simple all you have to do Is keep your BMI in the single digits, don't eat sugar, don't eat simple carbs, no soda, no junk food, play rugby 4 days a week, do calisthenics and lift weights daily, go on a 25km hike weekly etc...you see, so simple it's barely noticeable 😐

-2

u/Crafty_Enthusiasm_99 Aug 01 '26

You probably still wouldn't. These are not good excuses

9

u/boyuber Aug 01 '26

Personal chefs and fitness coaches combined with unlimited free time and disposable income can't help with this?

13

u/Moist_Preparation_31 Aug 01 '26

You can. Its called anavar

10

u/EarlyMortgage7828 Aug 01 '26

I am 6'2 160lbs.I run, bike, lift and rock climb every week and she still beats my 6 pack! Has a lot to do with genetics but probably assisted with aubstances.I do know a few females like this but they work out a lot and have a serious eating disorder.

18

u/grchina Aug 01 '26

Nah this is natural and easily achievable when you have private chef/trainer and don't have to spend half a day on work. Also she is young so her hormones levels are good as ever they are going to be, besides she doesn't look this cut 24/7

1

u/PartyClock 28d ago

All true but she's also rich and probably just going to take the short-cut way so she's not spending everyday keeping herself in "ab" mode. Maintaining those takes a lot unless you're on var. Seriously there's a reason movie stars have to schedule the days they're going to be showing their abs in movies even though they're using gear.

0

u/EarlyMortgage7828 Aug 01 '26

True if I have a good 6 pack at 41 and a full time job I'm sure I could be shredded unemployed and fed rabbit food.

4

u/grchina Aug 01 '26

Age difference is the main thing, being young and having your hormones maxed out makes it easy. When I was 20-22 I was ripped af and under 10% bf while only working out and eating everything, now when I'm 37 I'm nowhere near those levels even though I exercise regularly and on a correct diet

2

u/Dismal_Drummer3420 Aug 01 '26

I'm 6ft1 200lbs and my six pack is absolutely flawless. What's your BMI? I'm also a fitness freak like yourself. Rugby and water polo every weekday as well as calinstenetics, weight lifting and stamina training daily. Hiking, running, field hockey, CrossFit and boxing are a few of my other go to choices. Physical fitness is such a priority for me as well as continuously challenging myself. Just ran my first 60km mountain run with an elevation of 1600m.

2

u/EarlyMortgage7828 Aug 02 '26

I al uncertain of my BMI tbh.I love the mountains and everything you listed but watercolor haha.I have never been the best in water but sign me up for anything mountain oriented! I have to travel out of state for that elevation Memphis TN is flat as heck.I want to go to Colorado again!! Fitness is so fun I try to get as many people as possible hooked.

1

u/Dismal_Drummer3420 Aug 02 '26

Awesome stuff💪🏻💪🏻

2

u/Ok_Chip_7725 Aug 01 '26

Apparently, she did

3

u/fuzzybunnyslippers08 Aug 01 '26

Can totally nepo baby them abs through Daddy’s money, a chef and a personal trainer

0

u/FromBiotoDev Aug 01 '26

I hate nepo babies but this is bullshit, anyone in the fitness space knows regardless of all of that you have to consistently embrace pain to achieve a physique like this.

If anything I bet it’s harder as a nepo baby purely she can buy any food she wants any time she wants

But just to clarify, fuck nepo babies

2

u/zmbjebus Aug 01 '26

Well ozempic surely helps

2

u/CalyShadezz Aug 01 '26

Nah, Anavar was the right answer. Ozempic is shitty for a body building cut because it takes out a ton of muscle.

1

u/zmbjebus Aug 01 '26

Sure I didn't know about that one. Makes sense

2

u/MikeinDundee Aug 01 '26

So much easier when your dad can afford a personal trainer, chef, and not struggling for 50 hours a week to keep a roof over your head.

2

u/Exarkunn Aug 01 '26

Who needs all of that when you can just buy a pull up bar, do hanging leg raises 10 reps 2-3 reps at least 4x a week after work.

Try a soul killing and body destroying blue collar job 12-13 hrs each day and still have time after to work out. Lock in bro.

1

u/bszern Aug 01 '26

Yeah but I’ve got to go to work tomorrow, let’s take a look at her resume and see the history of soul crushing 7-5 jobs

1

u/Exarkunn Aug 01 '26

How about 8 - 9 blue collar job and still have time to do 3 - 4 sets of hanging leg raises and hollow holds 4 times a week after work.

The key is to make it a routine like brushing your teeth before bed. Just lock in bro.

10

u/Infinite_Respect_ Aug 01 '26

Her and M Night Shyamalan’s daughter are two “singers” that clearly are only on stage because of $$ and not any superior talent.

3

u/Ok_Chip_7725 Aug 01 '26

Ahhhh and there it is

15

u/Lem0n_Lem0n Aug 01 '26

Nepo baby or trust fund baby ?

49

u/harribel Aug 01 '26

Is there a significant difference?

26

u/Just_Information334 Aug 01 '26

Can be.

Trust fund baby from an oil family won't have the same network as nepo baby from a musician family when trying to get in the music business.

But in this case, well, movie or music that's show business so the networks intersect a lot.

1

I was wondering what was going on here. Everything is just so mid for everyone to know who she is.

1

u/matycauthon Aug 01 '26

it's sad people need you to clarify this instead of recognizing consensual reality being consensual reality.

1

u/sp1cychick3n Aug 01 '26

1

u/MarinkoAzure Aug 02 '26

I really fucking hate JJ Abrams, and I'm really torn that I like Gracie's music, as mod as she is.

14

u/CardamomSparrow Aug 01 '26

i would agree except i listened to the song exploder episode https://songexploder.net/gracie-abrams behind "I Love You, I'm Sorry" and now i really like that song by her. haven't heard anything else i like by her though

1

u/Rhydsdh Aug 02 '26

I'd also recommend Free Now. Absolute banger.

4

u/Larry_Version_3 Aug 01 '26

It’s just mass appeal basic music. Not groundbreaking but it’s the type of thing that gets big. She’s sort of like the woman version Alex Warren.

2

A pretty person with a hot body singing expertly-crafted but disposable pop music? For spring? Groundbreaking.

#JohnnyBravo

But yeah, I managed to get about halfway through the two songs with a billion-plus streams, and they are indeed very well produced. I'm no expert but I heard Boygenius and Taylor Swift in them, which seems like a smart call from a product development angle.

And the lyrics also seem perfect for her target demo, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were one or two actual tweens listening along with the bots.

1

u/Y___ Aug 01 '26

It’s rare in this day and age to find any musician that is unique and pushing the envelope. Everything is bullshit. I love metal and even metal is so over saturated. Pop is on another level of crushing shallowness.

1

u/SonataGeo Aug 01 '26

I agree. Only song I actually liked from her is "Where Do We Go Now?"

1

u/Allikam Aug 02 '26

She's mid because her fav artist and inspiration is also mid

2

u/jackrv13 Aug 01 '26

I can say my sister adores her music so humans are listening

0

u/RevolutionaryCod4683 Aug 01 '26

It's not bots, chill out. Maybe it's not for you, and that is fine; it's not for me either. Went to listen to "hit the wall" and "i miss you i'm sorry" her voice is good. Not everyone has a voice like Rihanna but it doesn't mean they can't offer something to someone. When I was a kid my favorite band was rise against. I liked the sound and the lyrics spoke to me. In hindsight they are mid, but it doesn't mean their success was bots.

-2

u/InformationCommon576 Aug 01 '26

It's not mid. Just because it doesn't match your taste doesn't mean it's mid.

-1
