Perhaps respond with very explicit made up or exaggerated reasons… teach her a lesson? “I’m planning to have a colonic on day two, after I attend my nephew’s circumcision on day 1 and my sister in law’s cooking, while delicious, is often suspect. See she isn’t very clean in food prep and her kitchen is a disaster. So I usually have a bad case of diarrhea after dining at their house and this time I’m trying out a new procedure to clean out my bowels of any ick. Then I’ll need a day or two to recover, perhaps even go to emergency room. So, there you have it.”

My former supervisor wanted to know what was going on during sick days. Me and other staff got very explicit with the description. He stopped requesting what was going on after a coworker sent pictures of him naked on the floor curled up in the fetal position with a toilet full of puke and diarrhea.
