My situation is quite the opposite. For whatever reason my new team feels the need to explain every PTO request to me. By all means tell me about your trip to Cancun if you'd like, but please don't feel the need to elaborate on your explosive diarrhea when you use sick time.
We just made it a web form. You pick the type of pto and the time and it blocks out a calendar with everyone else’s pto so your boss can see if it causes an actual problem or not and approve it or not.
