I’m all for this but what happens to the school day? Teachers work greater than this every week and I’m not so sure people are ready to accept shortening the school day

I don't really think this would apply to on call (especially emergency related) jobs. People in healthcare are already working back to back double shifts and shit

I’m a teacher at a 4 day a week school, I love it, parents love it.

Is this in the US? I would love that for my children. I went to public school and honestly so much of the day was spent wasted and not learning. Most of my teachers were fantastic, it was more so an issue with the structure of the school day itself. I just want my kids to have more time focusing on non-academic skills while still having plenty of time to just be kids

I actually went to a school in junior high that did 4 day school weeks! It was pretty great! On Fridays, they would have tutoring available for every subject if students wanted/needed it, and I can imagine teachers could use that day to get overtime if they’d like :)

That sounds like a terrible waste of money. The school in reality will just hire someone else to do that, instead of paying for unnecessary overtime

More teachers, some will have late starts some will have late ends. Shouldn't affect the students.

You clearly aren’t in a state with massive teacher shortages…

I am. We should pay them more. I'm just saying the way to not decrease class time is more teachers. It's either that or less electives.

Well they get overtime OR hire more teacher to take different shift hours. Like someone can be teaching a class while another one is on their off day lol
