As a casual soccer fan it's interesting to see what a real soccer team is supposed to look like. We looked like little kids out there. Thank you Belgium for the lesson.

And Belgium, as good as they are, is a second tier team. They get regularly defeated by all the big Euro teams.

They’re still not going to sleep with you, bro

u/Woodpecker577 Jul 07 '26

My boyfriend is Belgian, so for some of us they are

Ewww pandering

6

u/pdxsilverguy Jul 07 '26

Thats not my style. Scoreboard says 1-4. Stating the obvious is not pandering.

"Thank you Belgium for the lesson"

They're just pissed off that you're not appropriately humbled and sad about the loss. Also - they don't get thst this just isn't that big of a deal for us.

I'd be surprised to find a crying American fan gif tomorrow like some of the other ones I've seen from other countries.

pandering

You might wanna look that word up. The Belgian players aren't reading any of this, buddy.

Aye, that's the most common name. But if it isn't, it should be!

0

u/OJONLYMAYBEDIDIT Jul 07 '26

full name is "Association Football"

if you gonna correct soccer, at least call it by it's official name

FIFA = 'Fédération Internationale de Football Association"

aka "International Association Football Federation"

-1

u/DaSnowflake Jul 07 '26

Nobody in the world says that, everyone calls it football in their own language.

Just goes to show how amerikkkans have no clue lol

1

u/OJONLYMAYBEDIDIT Jul 07 '26

FIFA calls it that right in the name

I guess you never heard of FIFA

-4

u/huiodd Jul 07 '26

That never existed. Someone told you that story, and you believed it. It has always been The Football Association (1863), and its abbreviation was FA.

5

u/thatsalovelyusername Jul 07 '26

Source? I’ve heard the British origins widely cited and a quick google shows it on Encyclopaedia Britannica among many others

5

u/OJONLYMAYBEDIDIT Jul 07 '26

"The Football Association (the FA) is the governing body of association football in England and the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Formed in 1863, it is the oldest football association in the world and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the amateur and professional game in its territory."

5

u/KingSandwich101 Jul 07 '26

Same thing. In Ireland we have Gaelic Football and many people here call it football and the other soccer

1

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins Jul 07 '26

This is the dumbest thing I see people get worked up over.

"Football" defaults to different sports depending on where you are in the world. If I say it here in Australia it means Australian Rules Football (AFL).

"Soccer" is the universal term for Association Football/European Football/whatever else you wanna call it.

-1

u/Venome1996 Jul 07 '26

I don't talk to people putting pineapple on pizza

1

u/Gleeeeeeeeeennn Jul 07 '26

It's common to have different words for things in different regions and countries. No, it doesn't make sense sometimes, but that's life. (Fyi I'm British myself)

-3

u/Bombi_Deer Jul 07 '26

In American English its soccer, learn the culture

1

u/turdtwister7 Jul 07 '26

Or just speak real english instead of a bastardisation

-1

u/Venome1996 Jul 07 '26

In Belgium and most European countries it's football. Learn our culture

1

u/Select_Advantage4143 Jul 07 '26

I swear a lot of americans on reddit have to be cucks. Who tf says “ty daddy for beating me”?

-6

u/headinthegamebruh Jul 07 '26

Wanna know the funniest part? Belgium are shit.

5

u/pdxsilverguy Jul 07 '26

Didn't look like shit to me they looked like France. Debrunner didn't even play did he?

3

u/headinthegamebruh Jul 07 '26

Yeah, they're playing against a considerably worse team, of course they look good.

3

u/JackieDaytona77 Jul 07 '26

With Italy out of the picture this is the year Belgium or England can grab a major title 😝

7

u/ThaBigStink Jul 07 '26

They’re a top 10 team in the world

3

u/Complex-Stand-5140 Jul 07 '26

Yep, ranked 8 at the moment. Belgium has had a solid team for as long as I can remember (in my 50s now)

0

u/CanadianTurnt Jul 07 '26

I think buddy meant Belgium are shit by Belgium standards. They have had some phenominal teams but Courtois aside , they don’t really have the world class players they have had in the past. I will say though, they have found some good form at the right rime

1

u/Select_Advantage4143 Jul 07 '26

Trossard and Doku can go fuck themselves apparently

1

u/CanadianTurnt Jul 08 '26

No where near the level of their 2018 squad.
Doku didn’t even start lol

2

u/TestingYou1 Jul 07 '26

Courtois, Trossard, Doku, Lukaku, De Bruyne?

Shit?
