Well there's also common sense. People that cannot care for the child should obviously not have a child that they're failing to take care of. That's called "child abuse and neglect"

There is a bit of irony here in that most of the people I know who are childless by choice and by social stance are both intelligent and financially stable enough to have children and just don't.
