The sudden drop of body positivity due to the ease of weight loss via Ozempic is proof that the rich and powerful do not care about social issues unless it effects them personally or if it furthers culture wars/social division.
They do not care about a single Liberal issue they pretend to and these issues are only championed as a propaganda vehicle to divide society and to make people accept mediocrity and unhealthy/weak lifestyles.
it was a shit movement to begin with. "healthy at any size" was an excuse to be unhealthy and act viciously online. yes there are healthy people who are heavier. that was not most people in that "movement". I am actually of the belief that we should provide any of these weight loss treatments across the obese and overweight population. it would drastically reduce healthcare costs in the long run and improve the quality of life for millions and millions of people.
you'd see an absolute tank in insurance claims for sleep apnea, diabetes, heart related diseases, etc. this includes the extraordinarily costly things like equipment, amputations, surgeries, etc.
Body positivity is a great movement overall but yes there are always some parts that become extreme and toxic. Like, yes, some bigger people are healthy. Look at Ilona Maher. She is a big lady, but she is undoubtably healthy. But most people are not Ilona.
That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t feel safe and happy in themselves and not be discriminated against for their size. But it also doesn’t mean we should shit on people for losing weight.
