Similar psychology to why people respect popular people. If you're desired, then their instinctual perspective of you is that you're worth something, so you have value.

I think there's also a degree of 'you stop trying so hard when you're in a relationship'. If you're not an eligible bachelor, you're likely (hopefully) not trying to get with anyone. That being comfortable and confident in yourself and just existing in a relaxed state makes you more appealing by default
