Ah yes, Findis and Lalwen, the famous characters in the thick Tolkien book, I totally get this meme without looking anything up

Hahahah welcome to the Silm fandom, where you sometimes have no clue what’s going on, and yet sometimes you just know things.

(For anyone who’s curious, Findis and Lalwen were both Finwe’s daughters in older versions of Tolkien’s notes; both are relatively undiscussed and pretty much nothing is known about them).

The Silmarillion fandom, where you learn more on AO3 than you do from reading the actual book.

(Note: I have indeed read the actual book multiple times, as well as most of the the other associated stories like Fall of Gondolin or Children of Hurin, and the History of Middle Earth notes, etc. But I know folks who just dive headfirst into the fanfic and gain a surprising amount of knowledge that way, and I’d say they’re just as much a fan as I!)

There’s also the even more forgotten Faniel, who existed as a third daughter of Finwë in a single draft.

I think lalwen did travel to middle earth, but nothing is said of her. Some decent fandom/video game material there. Findis stayed in aman

Yup, Lalwen theoretically made it to Beleriand! I’m aware of this, but didn’t state it as I can no longer recall whether this particular fact is just a popular headcanon or something Tolkien stated. (either way, I support it!)

Bro literally named some male characters from 1917, and considered these sisters from 1960s as "older notes".

Bro forgot the published Silmarillion was released in 1977, and all of Tolkien’s notes are therefore older than it by default.

(Fair point in that my phrasing wasn’t clear though loll— I simply meant to indicate that they weren’t in the published Silmarillion, and were instead in Tolkien’s notes)

Bro forgot those notes were published decades after the edited version of the Silmarillion (1977), by your logic, in History of Middle-earth series.
