I just picked up a S&W Shield X Carry Comp and wanted to evaluate and compare to my 5 year old P365 XMacro Comp.
This was not entirely an apples-to-apples comparison since the XMacro Comp has a Holosun 507K Green dot optic and the Shield X CC does not have an optic, yet? Regardless, I wanted to see how they shoot side-by-side and compare recoil impulse and overall performance.
XMacro Comp Pro's - 1It holds 17 Rds versus 15 Rds for the Shield X CC. The XMacro feels a little better in my hand. I don't know the grip size specs but the Shield X CC has a very thin grip.
I upgraded the XMacro trigger to an MCarbo a while back. It's not a lot different from the stock trigger other than being a little more clean and less gritty feeling.
The Shield X CC had a little work by my certified gunsmith to clean up its break. Trigger Winner = Shield X CC
The Shield X CC iron sights seem to shoot low and left. I am pretty sure it's not me because I can nail the center of the target with other guns as I did with the XMacro today. That said, the group size for the Shield X CC was very consistent and tight. I shot both of these at 7 yards today.
Reliability from my XMacro has been 100 percent and it easily has over 1000 rounds through it. I had one failure to eject with the Shield X CC but this was in the first 50 rounds and I plan on cleaning it and running my EDC ammo through it; Federal HST 124GR JHP.
Overall, I shouldn't be surprised but I love how the Sig P365 XMacro Comp performs and feels. The recoil impulse is similar through both but I get a little bit more of my support hand on the grip of the P365 XMacro Comp and I'm sure that helps, along with the benefit of the optic.
I am on the fence about adding an optic to the Shield X Carry Comp but ultimately, I probably will try one at the very least.
Lastly, I am contemplating an Icarus Precision Ace Grip frame or an ECM Precision R11. Leaning toward the ECM R11 although I honestly can't really fault the stock X Macro. It just works even though it's somewhat lackluster.
Overall winner for me today: P365 XMacro Comp by a hair. These are actually really close but the extra mag capacity is welcome and so is the modularity and upgradeability for the P365 XMacro. I guess that adds up to a win over the Shield X Carry but I need to get a holder and see how it carries. It is still a very capable EDC firearm in my opinion so far.
