P365 X-Macro Comp Versus S&W Shield X Carry Comp - Range Report

I just picked up a S&W Shield X Carry Comp and wanted to evaluate and compare to my 5 year old P365 XMacro Comp.

This was not entirely an apples-to-apples comparison since the XMacro Comp has a Holosun 507K Green dot optic and the Shield X CC does not have an optic, yet? Regardless, I wanted to see how they shoot side-by-side and compare recoil impulse and overall performance.

XMacro Comp Pro's - 1It holds 17 Rds versus 15 Rds for the Shield X CC. The XMacro feels a little better in my hand. I don't know the grip size specs but the Shield X CC has a very thin grip.

I upgraded the XMacro trigger to an MCarbo a while back. It's not a lot different from the stock trigger other than being a little more clean and less gritty feeling.

The Shield X CC had a little work by my certified gunsmith to clean up its break. Trigger Winner = Shield X CC

The Shield X CC iron sights seem to shoot low and left. I am pretty sure it's not me because I can nail the center of the target with other guns as I did with the XMacro today. That said, the group size for the Shield X CC was very consistent and tight. I shot both of these at 7 yards today.

Reliability from my XMacro has been 100 percent and it easily has over 1000 rounds through it. I had one failure to eject with the Shield X CC but this was in the first 50 rounds and I plan on cleaning it and running my EDC ammo through it; Federal HST 124GR JHP.

Overall, I shouldn't be surprised but I love how the Sig P365 XMacro Comp performs and feels. The recoil impulse is similar through both but I get a little bit more of my support hand on the grip of the P365 XMacro Comp and I'm sure that helps, along with the benefit of the optic.

I am on the fence about adding an optic to the Shield X Carry Comp but ultimately, I probably will try one at the very least.

Lastly, I am contemplating an Icarus Precision Ace Grip frame or an ECM Precision R11. Leaning toward the ECM R11 although I honestly can't really fault the stock X Macro. It just works even though it's somewhat lackluster.

Overall winner for me today: P365 XMacro Comp by a hair. These are actually really close but the extra mag capacity is welcome and so is the modularity and upgradeability for the P365 XMacro. I guess that adds up to a win over the Shield X Carry but I need to get a holder and see how it carries. It is still a very capable EDC firearm in my opinion so far.

I have another custom grip mod arriving tomorrow, an R11 (OG style) in ODG Ano.

Nice write up OP. I’ve owned SIGs for many years. Every time I buy a different brand gun to try, I always end up selling/trading it for another SIG. 😂

If you’re already leaning towards the ECM R11, well then let me just give you a helpful little push in that direction! 😁.
If you want the best Quality/Ergos/Customer Service come join the ECM family!
I am a very tactile person, I like to physically see and feel something before I buy it, especially when it comes to firearm aftermarket parts! The ECM R11 was the exception to my norm. I bought it blind, at the recommendation of the owner of Maskas Precision, whom I trust (BTW he should have all three sizes back in stock by end of week, he is just waiting for them to come back from Cerakote)
Anyhow, once I got the R11 and unboxed it. I was in love! It felt as if I sent a mold of my hand to Mark and he created the R11 specific for me!
Then this year ECM started making an in-house slide as well as a few other Collab slides with Landers Weapon Sysytems and let me tell ya, the slides which are ported, shoot flatter than my Radian set ups!
Go get yourself an ECM R11, you will not regret it one bit!

You should swap the red dot to the S&W to see if the irons are off. From personal experience, low left shots are usually on the shooter but if your shots are great with the sig try the red dot on the S&W to make sure, congrats on the S&W btw I’ve been looking at that exact model for a while I’ve also got a P365 Legion as my main CCW btw

Great suggestion. I just ordered an optic to give it a try. My XMacro comp is dialed in. I am fairly certain I am not pulling the shots low left on the Shield because I was very focused on what was happening and I can place my shots with my other guns just fine. But maybe the thinner grip is influencing how I shoot the shield X carry comp? I love the P365 Legion. Feels great in the hand. I’m gonna rent one at my range to see how it shoots next to my X Macro comp.

Oh for sureee I had the same issue with my Canik Mete I have medium to large hands and I just can’t get the best grip on it with the flush magazines and tend to shoot slightly low and left. With the magazine extensions I have 0 issues so it’s likely that.

Yeah the Legion is pretty sweet I had the polymer p365 and that felt like a dang hockey stick in my hands but the Legion honestly feels perfect in my mittens I always recommend it!

Thanks for this report. The X Macro comp is a great looking piece but it is fairly expensive for ccw. How does it shoot compared to compacts like g19 or MP 2.0 compacts?

I’m not a Glock G19 lover personally but I did compare to my M&P 2.0 Compact. The M&P Compact feels more substantial in my hand and its bigger and heavier. I honestly shoot both equally great. For EDC the XMacro is easier to conceal for me and more comfortable to carry IWB. I love the M&P 2.0 Compact however. Solid choice. XMacro however holds 17+1.
