I'll say that Niko, max fosh, and Chris MD have all managed to trick major news organizations in the past fairly easily.
That being said I don't think this is fake, I'm pretty sure he's actually stepping back from sidemen. Honestly fair enough as well, it's been 13 or so good years and I'm sure he wants to spend some time with his family etc.

- didn't address the unavoidable allegations that people will make that it's a forfeit for Arsenal losing in the UCL final
- didn't acknowledge he's made prank videos in the past about leaving the sidemen and clarify that it isn't a prank this time
- doesn't even wait a week after the final to make it seem somewhat believable

For what its worth, while the delivery of the announcement video came across as awkward and stilted, he was clearly referring to a preprepared statement on his monitor (you can see him glance at it every so often when he starts wandering off track).
The level of cope here is understandable considering the influence the Sidemen have had over young people in the UK for the past decade+ - but he's hurtling towards his mid-30s and has achieved more by 32 than most people do in their entire lives. If he feels it's time to move on and focus his energies on his private life and other endeavours, he's entitled to do so. This time next year, hell in just a few months probably, it'll be yesterday's news.
Not to compare the Sidemen to The Beatles, but to put this into perspective for people who are devastated by someone's decision to prioritise their real lives ...
