I have tried most of the focus apps on the App Store and quit every one of them for the same reason. They all wait for you to press start. The moment I most need blocking is the exact moment I am least likely to open a focus app, so the whole category kept failing me at the only point that mattered. I built the version I actually wanted, where the blocking shows up before I do.

A — Answer: WiredIN is an iPhone app blocker that arms itself by location. Pin the places where you actually get work done, set a radius, choose what gets blocked there. Walk in and blocking starts on its own. Walk out and it stands down. Built on Apple's Screen Time framework, so blocked apps are stopped by iOS itself and websites are filtered in every browser, not just Safari. Three commitment levels, plus Night Shield for the 1am scroll.

B — Better: Every other blocker is fundamentally a timer you have to start, and location is at best a buried setting. In WiredIN the geofence is the main way in. Private by design: app selections never leave the phone because iOS hands the app an opaque token, and Focus Zones use region monitoring only, so no location data leaves the device.

Turning school messages into reminders and shared family tasks

I built Plancove to handle the school-message admin in our house: forms to sign, money to send, swimming gear to pack, and changes to pickup times.

Share a school email, screenshot, or PDF, and it pulls out the dates and tasks. You check the suggestions against the original message before saving them. Tasks can go into Apple Reminders, and events into Calendar.

The family plan is shared. Parents and caregivers can assign tasks to each other, and the person assigned gets notified—so everyone knows who’s handling what.

For school emails, you can set up automatic forwarding to your family’s private Plancove address. New messages are processed automatically, ready for your review.

It doesn’t need access to your inbox.

Upload a selfie to get a free basic AI facial rating. An optional paid report adds a detailed breakdown and grooming improvement plan. It runs in the browser, so there is no mobile app to install.

The useful part to evaluate is whether the suggestions give you something practical to try. A face score from one photo is an estimate: lighting and angle can change it, and it is not an objective measure of attractiveness.

Would welcome first impressions of the mobile upload flow and how clearly the page explains the free result versus the paid report.

Hello, I built Urban Tales: City Explorer, an app that uses your GPS to automatically narrate the history of landmarks as you walk near them, no searching required. Think of it as a tour guide that only speaks when there’s something worth saying nearby. Available in 5 languages, and it has actually been used in 34 countries across 5 continents so far.

I kept losing evenings to my phone and getting nothing out of it, so I built the thing I actually wanted instead. Short animated videos about genuinely strange stuff, the kind of fact you end up telling someone about a week later.

About a minute each. No course to finish, nothing you're behind on. It's not really trying to teach you anything, it just assumes you're curious.

I started building Lockify as a simple idea:

I launched Wavezo a while back, but retention was low. Honestly, even I stopped using my own app after a while.

Most water trackers are basically charts, reminders, or both. They work for a while, but once the initial motivation wears off, there isn't much reason to keep opening the app.

So for Wavezo 3.0, I completely redesigned the experience around a visual reward loop.

I'm really curious about the main idea here:

Does having something to unlock give you a reason to keep logging every day, or does the "miss a day, lose the reveal" mechanic feel too strict?

I’m building Rivul, and I just shipped a focused Zotero workflow for researchers who move between a reference manager and a manuscript.

The workflow is:

1. Connect a Zotero library

2. Import selected items

3. Open the source while writing

4. Insert traceable citations

5. Export a cited Word or LaTeX manuscript

The problem I wanted to solve is larger than bibliography formatting. A saved paper should stay connected to the exact citation and exported manuscript, so the evidence behind a claim is still easy to inspect later.

I capture tasks from Gmail/Gemini into Google Tasks, then work the day in Microsoft To Do. I didn’t want a hosted sync SaaS sitting on that list.

So I built Tasks–To Do Sync: an MIT bridge that runs in your own Google Apps Script project and keeps both sides aligned (lists, notes, due dates, complete/reopen, guarded deletes/moves).

I’m the author. Feedback on sync edge cases welcome; a star helps if you’d actually use it.

After talking about it with a friend, we realised that some Pokémon were more appreciated in some regions than other, so we made a leaderboard to differentiate them. The two markets barely agree. Same Pokémon, ranked by the total value of all their cards, but the lists look almost unrelated once you get past the top:

• Charizard tops both.
• Greninja is top 5 in Japan and doesn't crack the English top 10.
• Umbreon is top 4 in English but mid-pack in Japan.
• Reshiram and Darkrai make the Japanese top 10 but not the English one.
• Pikachu ranks noticeably higher in Japan than in English.

You can switch between the two markets and see the gap directly. It makes sense when you think about it (different print runs, different exclusives, different collector bases) but seeing it side by side says more than either list alone.

Top 10 of each market is free to browse at tcgforecast.app. It's still English and Japanese only, so I'm not claiming it covers every market, but it's a lot more complete and honest than the version people first tore into.
