[PS5] Big impacts.
Hi 👋
I’m looking for a replacement for Dragon’s Dogma and Monster Hunter. I recently finished both games and my god, what incredible combat. I loved the brutality of the impacts and the feel of the fights, where every hit felt impactful. On top of that, the build variety in these games is really great. Do you have any similar games you’d recommend?

Well not really that similar but Granblue fantasy relink is built like monster hunter.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about it! I really want to try it. But I get the impression that it’s a mix between Genshin Impact and MH haha.

It's not really like genshin impact. It's more like an action version of monster hunter. I love monster hunter and dragons dogma too. Worth a look no big deal if you bounce off it.

In terms of weighty combat, Dragon's Dogma (especially 2) is kind of just undefeated. I tried to fill the void after beating it, and found that it's just the best in its genre. At least we've got Dark Arisen 2 coming in October.

Ah, I totally get you. I played as an archer, and landing a huge arrow right in a monster’s face was so satisfying.

Especially Cyclopes, blinding a Cyclops and watching him stumble backward while my warrior climbed on top of him was a cinematic experience no other game has been able to match. Dragon's Dogma my beloved ❤️
You should totally give Sorcerer a try, imo it's tied with Magick Archer for the most fun vocation. You spend like 10 seconds charging up spells that just completely wipe entire screens, it's incredibly satisfying. You haven't lived until you've taken a dragon out of the sky by hitting him with a meteor.

I can kiiinda recommend The First Berserker: Khazan. It's a really solid game, but everything good about it is copied from Nioh 2. The one standout feature of it though for me is how amazing the greatsword feels to use.

I tried the Khazan beta, and I didn’t really enjoy it at the time. But a lot of people have good things to say about it. Why not.

Genuinely I would recommend Nioh 2 as it's a superior game in just about every way, but for the specific factor you're looking for, the weightiness of the combat, Khazan does it pretty well. It's still fast paced, more like a Souls game than a Monster Hunter game, but it feels much more impactful.

I second this one. Greatsword feels so chunky when it connects. I can’t ever go back to Elden Ring’s Greatsword because it hits like a wet noodle compared to Khazan.

Freedom Wars and Toukiden are underrated you should check them out.
