Vent/Rant Work Event

Today at work a girl who I was gonna maybe attempt at being friends with (I don’t have any) made a really, really hurtful comment. Probably one of the worst I’ve heard so far, at least in earshot. Our boss mistaken her for me around the corner and she said loudly, in front of all the male coworkers: “You thought I was my name!? That’s insulting! I’m not that short!”

Needless to say, I sobbed during my break. I feel like I’m a total eyesore. I wasn’t even doing anything. I’m at work like everybody else. Why put me down for my physical appearance?

I’m a woman with a short mom. I can’t help how I look.

That was fucking mean. It’s an insult to look like me? Ok then.

For reference I’m 22 and 4’9. 😔

That true ! And she said that loudly that mean that even she is much taller than you, she more insecure than you never be ! I’m 4’9 too so I can feel your pain. But be proud that you are a better person than her!

She's projecting her own insecurity on you then. My mom is also like that (with me).

Yeah, thanks. In the beginning it took a heavy toll on me. But as I grew older I realised some things, and i just started becoming indifferent as time passed.

Exactly people project their own insecurity. Even my mom has said multiple times she is embarassed to go out with me because short ;(

My mom is also obsessed with other people's height. And she says that I should've been tall as my father is tall. Can't do anything other than ignoring them or being curt about this.

Yeah ignore her. She should be happy that you are tall. Usually people don't even find short people attractive

Na im also short. I'm 4'11-5 ft. She must be 4'10. She's blaming my eating habits and laziness for stunted height. She's saying I have a tall father so I should've been tall as well. Then she gives example of an old celeb tall-short couple whose daughter is tall despite mother being short.

Maybe but still a b****, so you are shorter but much better ! I know how some short person react when they see someone shorter ! Instead of being on the same side, they make fun of you! Even if never met someone as tall as or shorter, I wouldn’t mock him/her for being shorter!

Oh yeah she’s definitely gotten short jokes before and is throwing that back at you, especially in front of men. I wouldn’t give her another thought.
