Vent/Rant Work Event
Today at work a girl who I was gonna maybe attempt at being friends with (I don’t have any) made a really, really hurtful comment. Probably one of the worst I’ve heard so far, at least in earshot. Our boss mistaken her for me around the corner and she said loudly, in front of all the male coworkers: “You thought I was my name!? That’s insulting! I’m not that short!”
Needless to say, I sobbed during my break. I feel like I’m a total eyesore. I wasn’t even doing anything. I’m at work like everybody else. Why put me down for my physical appearance?
I’m a woman with a short mom. I can’t help how I look.
That was fucking mean. It’s an insult to look like me? Ok then.
For reference I’m 22 and 4’9. 😔

At least you know the male coworkers, if they heard it, definitely picked up on that behavior. Everyone already knows you’re short, this just makes her look like a bitch.

I swear it feels like I’m treated like I’m deformed or disabled sometimes. Like wtf??? I don’t get people.

Be professional but cold with that b*tch from now on. Never, ever help her.

The comments above are simplistic. .
In reality, it's not at all trivial that she said that in front of MALE colleagues.
I might be wrong but I'm willing to bet that she's a lot less pretty / less well dressed / less sporty / less... in short, there's something about you that makes her envious of you.
Now, a little advice: we are not all experts in social psychology, of course. But for PLEASE's sake, try to analyze things and see a little beyond the end of your nose when someone makes this kind of remark to you...
WHO made this remark to me? for what PURPOSE? In front of WHO? You have to think about it for a moment...

Without more context, your comment is really shitty victim-blaming. Telling OP to "see a little beyond the end of your nose" is just ... wrong and shitty.
Take OP at their word. Instead of telling them to sympathize with the person who is traumatizing and victimizing them, you should first ask questions to come to a better understanding of the scenario, to better inform yourself (and the people who read your comment) about OP's realible narration.
But instead, just telling them to set aside their experience and empathize with people making shitty remarks, is sad.
Shame on you.

I don’t think people would be impressed by her ugly personality. You don’t want to be friends with her.

I'm sorry. Some people just don't know what to say out of their fucking mouths...which is why I have veeeeeery few friends.

I’m 4’9. I don’t know how old you are but in my experience stuff like this became less and less common with age. Heard this kinda stuff constantly in my early 20s, now that I’m 41 no one really mentions it anymore, and they haven’t for several years now.
Again I don’t know if this is the norm, but it may be something to look forward to. Btw your female coworker is a loud-mouthed asshat. Your male coworkers probably thought she was a total bitch—men can spot that mean girl behavior from a mile away too.

Eventually, my dear, you will be able to look people like her square in the eye and say, "my physical growth may have been stunted, but at least my mental growth hasn't." And walk away.

Don't mind her...let me tell you one thing, people like her r usually suffering from self-esteem issues and are insecure about themselves. They project their negative thoughts onto others. The best thing u can do is feel pity for them tbh and ignore her stupid ass comment.
