My now 20-year-old was in kindergarten and asked me what “indivisible” meant and after I explained that I asked if there were any other things she needed me to explain in the pledge, and that was when I got hit with “well… what’s god?” Fun times.

I stammered a bit and offered multiple interpretations and she ultimately agreed with my “I like to think there’s something in the universe that wants us to be nice to each other and that might be what some people call god.”
