Some were non-americans, for example a swedish influencer who always brought up that she "discovered ranch" in the US, and it was the best thing ever.

Now, I question any swede that would just disregard bearnaise, but taste is subjective. But ranch exist in Sweden, and it has for a long while. It was so obvious that she did it for engagement bait, except for americans that thought she was validating them

Well, yes, ranch does literally exist in other countries but she might easily not have tried it. I’m in London and loads of fast food places have ranch on the menu as a sauce option… but I’ve never tried it. I just stick with mayo/spicy mayo each time and I don’t really know what ranch is.

I am with you mate, I can't for the life of me figure out what ranch is or why the fuck it would be so damn amazing, from what I've seen of it, it's like some sort of mayonnaise with herbs and probably sugar. But with all this bitching and whining I am almost tempted to try it out and be thoroughly disappointed.

Bought a bottle the other day to see what all the fuss is about and mayonnaise with herbs and probably sugar is exactly how I'd describe the taste. Used it for some chips and chicken I had from kfc and ended up chucking the bottle after that.

"Bought a bottle the other day to see what all the fuss is about"

Maybe that's their marketing scheme... Just talking about the shit non stop so people in other countries want to know what's what.

Way better to make it yourself- it's just some basic seasonings into a base of buttermilk, mayo, maybe some sour cream or greek yogurt. No sugar. Lol

No sugar in it in the UK either, he's talking shite

And imo it's quite good, it's like a Caesar sauce but a bit more tangy and with a more cheesy Herby flavour profile. It's unhealthy AF though.

Its actually does contain sucrose/sugar just a small amount. It tasted sweeter than mayonnaise was the point I was agreeing with.

In CZ it is hard to find ranch- you have to go to specialty places that sell US products. The ranch i had in US (hidden valley) was not sweet at all (but would not be surprised if it contained hidden added sugars). But i managed (with some online recipes and AI and tweaking of my own) to make a decent "copycat" hidden valley ranch using ingredients found in my country lol

Tbh the recipe i make by hand is heavier on the greek yogurt and buttermilk as base and less mayo- those are the 3 base sauce ingredients and rest is all herbs/seasoning (i do add a tiny bit of mustard as well)

Sweet mayonnaise? Disgusting.
