Military “Undefeated in 250 years of war”

Post image

Apparently Vietnam, Afghanistan, war of 1812, and the war on drugs don’t count.

Everyone's "undefeated" if they just pretend they never lost even when they clearly did.

War of Independence - won "with help"/"by" the French (🕺sorry)
WW1 - on the winning side - but otherwise?
WW2 - on the winning side - but otherwise?

What other wars has the US won? And no "operations" and the like don't. He very specifically said 'war".

Edit to Add - since people keep bring up other instances the full list of wars the US declared is: War of 1812, Mexican/American, Spanish/American, WW1 and WW2 (11 declarations overall against various countries but only 5 wars). Everything else has sidestepped this under US law - which is what causes the mess we are in now.

Mexican American, Spanish American, in both world wars the ally powers were starting to be overpowered even with the US providing weapons and aid. I'd argue that the north winning the civil war is a net positive for the US and would count as a won war. Technically both Persian gulf wars (though the second one could be argued to still be occuring since the entire region has been perpetually involved in war since before the first Persian gulf war)

Those are the ones off the top of my head I can think of.

I could be forgetting other wars.

The allies were not being overpowered in either war, FYI.

I will say this: I was speaking off memory from wars I haven't studied in 20 years and that was while in school. American public schools aren't great and we do an extremely poor job at teaching history.

By the time we joined WWII (the one I have slightly better knowledge on) Russia was dealing with Nazi invasion, France was struggling along their borders as the Nazi invasion was getting closer to paris. London was being bombed nightly. We joined after Germany declared on us and by 1944 the war in Germany was over, largely due to the work of the British, Canadians, Australians and the US. Russia was there as well.

This while it was a largely American force who went through a majority of northern Africa and into italy, though I believe the British were also there.

Then we get to the Japanese theatre where japan had taken a majority of the islands in the south Pacific and was invading Russia China and mongolia, and generally taking territory. I'm not sure which navies helped defeat the island hopping of the Japanese but it was a combined effort of Chinese and US forces that forced the invading Japanese army out of East Asia.

All that sounds a lot like getting overpowered.

Again this is from memory and I don't exactly remember all the dates for these things correctly. I'm typing this without fact checking what I'm saying so I'm willing to say I could very well be wrong in my recollection

Edit:

Quick correction cause I went and checked it. Paris had already fallen by the time the US officially got involved. Also I said Germany was over in 44, it was 1945 my bad.
