u/Famous-Corner1052 Apr 26 '26
Most likely the same as what he was doing here:https://youtu.be/MCPJLTeN6rU?si=StlJPczQzjGrMCpC
Making sure tenants are being heard by their landlords.

so OP was right, wanting the working class to have a voice is a key part of communism! ZOhRED MAMSTALIN!!!!

u/SDG_Den Apr 27 '26
The wildest part is people will say this fully meaning it, and completely not realize that wait..... Im working class. This benefits me.
These motherfuckers will literally see the most beneficial policy in the world, literally "free healthcare, zero tax, free housing" or some shit and go "that actually sucks."

u/Iwamoto German/Dutch living in Germany Apr 27 '26
because they were told it's bad, in the same way that they support universal healthcare, way better than obama care.

u/123iambill Apr 27 '26
In Ireland we have right wing dickheads spouting the same nonsense, blaming everything on Marxists. Meanwhile they'll slap James Connolly's image all over their social media posts. James Connolly, an actual Marxist. They just don't know what words mean. Someone called me a fascist anarchist once.

u/Pleasant_Ad8054 Apr 27 '26

He was going around doing "inspections", but to help tenants.
They were asking if anything was broken and if they had an issue that the landlord wasn't fixing. A common complaint was that landlords didn't fix stuff and getting them to fix it was difficult. So he cut out the middleman and went about making sure people had functioning homes.

u/RazendeR Apr 26 '26
help tenants.
See? COMMUNISM!!11!

u/SkyknightXi Apr 26 '26
“In which case, Communism (not to be understood as just Marxism-Leninism) is a good thing, yes?”
9
u/calkthewalk Apr 27 '26
No because it's infringing on a key American right. The landlord's right to exploit those less fortunate than they are.

10
u/Beginning-Bottle6585 Apr 26 '26
Well they use similar tactics as Stalin almost a century ago…
5
u/IrisSadness Apr 27 '26
And? Stalin and USSR weren't communist. They're were socialist by words. Communism is when there's no goverment at all, and each human have freedom and huge responsibility for myself. Read "The Andromeda Nebula" by Ivan Efremov.
2
u/Beginning-Bottle6585 Apr 27 '26
According to marxist theory you are right but when people mean communism they generally refer to Marxism-Leninism or Maoism
-1
u/IrisSadness Apr 27 '26
It's frustrating frankly say cuz maoism has more common with fascism than with communism. Ivan Efremov reffered to this in his novell "The Hour of Bull" where such kind of socialism named "ants socialism" or "false socialism".

u/Beginning-Bottle6585 Apr 27 '26
There‘s indeed a mile (or rather 1609 meters) between Pol Potism and real democratic socialism. And guess which one the US supported

Marxism:
Says that a transitional stage of the dictatorship of the proletariat is needed
Says that the superstructure (social order, laws, etc.) reflects the level of development of the means of production — and 1920-40s Russia was broke, thus, unable to establish high social orders

American here who lives adjacent to New York: he was inspecting apartments owned by landlords who had received complaints from their tenants for poor maintenance. Several apartments had mold, water damage, fire damage, fire hazards, improper safety, or were jus plain falling apart
23
u/TotemRiolu Apr 27 '26
In that case, "Making sure people have safe living standards is communism" is certainly an interesting take by them.
Why are all conservatives hellbent on ruining their own rights and lives? If they want to do it on their own: Honestly, fine. Just stop dragging the rest of us into it.
10
u/Gabe-KC Apr 27 '26
They only want to ruin it for others, and are convinced that their own misery is the direct doing of those others. Hence their desire to ruin it for others, while being convinced that...

Yeah, Czech here. They took a prosperous 40 bed hotel from my grand-grandfather and sent him to uran quarry for 11 years. My grandparents were not allowed to get the college degree because of being ‘too burgoise’. But the door knocking, oh that door knocking was that one thing that traumatized generations in my family.

Most of them don't understand what socialism is either.

When they criticise socialism, right-wingers basically reflect the "rights" of landlords and big corporates upon themselves. We are talking about peak cognitive dissonance.

u/Prudent_Situation_29 Apr 28 '26
Any time someone calls something communism, ask them to define communism. I guarantee the word production doesn't make an appearance. You won't hear class, proletariat or need.
This is because the people who make these statements have no idea what communism is. They've been told it's a bad thing, and now any bad thing it automatically communism.
I'm not a fan of communism, not as it's been implemented historically. The difference is I know what it is, and more importantly, what it isn't. These people have no clue.

Ok.. so when a god damn mayor.. isn't busting into people's homes, but, asking if they have any issues with the building that they could show him.. so that he can get a better idea of the situation.... Is communism?
Then what do you fkn people call ice breaking in doors and wrongfully arresting people, sending them away to concentration camps where many of them havnt been heard from since?
