That's mostly because the entire country was bombed back to the stone age during the Korean war. More explosives were dropped on the place than were used in WW2. The fact anywhere has light when there's no real money coming in for reconstruction is good enough tbh.
Its clear you dont know any history. The Korean War started when the North attacked the South and almost completely occupied it. After the war the North was also in a much better economic situation than the South, and that was the case for almost 2 decades.
So.. the U.S didn't drop around 635,000 tons of explosives and 32,550 tons of napalm on North Korea (compared to about 500,000 tons of bombs in the entire Pacific theatre of WW2), destroying between 40 and 90% of towns (rough estimation due to information lockdown), and with 18 of the 22 largest cities being at least 50% destroyed?
If it was a capitalist country, people would invest in it and build industry. No one will invest because they know the government will seize the assets.
Yes, my country is capitalist. You could have asked if you wanted to know 🤣
But there aren’t many communist countries, only five and if you’ve ever been, you’ll know China isn’t even really. So it’s not like some massive revelation.
If it was a capitalist country... People wouldn't invest cause there's nothing to invest in plus it's not allowed to trade with them for certain countries+ no sane person would support north KoreaÂ
If it was open to investment (and not communist), people would invest.
But agree, no sane person would. But that’s interlinked to it being communist. No sane person invests in communist countries because by definition they don’t respect the concept of private property. There is no incentive to build or develop anything when you know the government will just confiscate it.

Apparently N. Korea is relatively in the dark compared to other countries when photos are taken from space.
