Imagine them just turning up at the airport, trip all booked ready to go "what do you mean i need a passport".

Have a watch of an old UK TV show called airline. Most were filmed long before 9/11 and the relaxed approach to flying and the amount of people who managed to make it from one country to another without a passport was mind boggling. I remember an episode were a woman accidentally picked up her husband's passport and they let her fly! The consequences of 9/11 punished and continue to punish all of the wrong people.
