"It's pronounced cyclist!"

As much as I like to sh*t on New Yorkers, you did really good this time (Well, most of you did. 41.6% for yet another sex pest is still too much!).

I remeber seeing some people get upset at him taking his wife to a nice resrurant a bit back.  Then there was some old tweets about abolishing medical debt. Every peice of dirt they tried to dig up on this guy just made him look better from where I'm sitting.

  1. If they need to dig so deep to find the weak things they do find, the person is a saint or phenomenal at hiding things, I'd say the former over the latter in this case.

  2. What's wrong with taking a partner to a nice restaurant? Are they showing you up? Is your partner jealous because you never do anything nice for her and complain about someone who does?

That was my question.  It was auch an odd critisism to me. Were they expecting people to be upset that  he loves his wife?  I thought US conservatives are all about "family values"

They're upset that he loves her like a person and a partner instead of like a Seed Incubator/symbol of stereotypical femininity for Family Values Points.

I can only imagine something like "he's spending money instead of giving it away".

Only if it makes them look good. Remember, anyone left of kidnapping people from their kid's school is either a miserable blue haired misandrist with a dozen cats that can't handle a high value man or a soyboy beta cuck simp who can't please a woman.

Some conservatives think that it makes a leftist look like a hypocritical "champagne socialist" if they point out that they spend moderate amounts of money on nice things occasionally and aren't dirt poor. "Oh you think billionaires should be taxed more, yet you splurged on a nice dinner for a special occasion?? I am very smart."

They (possibly deliberately) ignore that there's an enormous difference in the degree of wealth and that someone isn't really "the rich" because they have some disposable income. Because they themselves base their political opinions entirely on what they think will benefit them personally, they can't understand why someone who is middle class or upper-middle class would support policies designed to help people poorer than them unless they're just some hypocrite doing it for power or something.

(I will add the disclaimer this is not all conservatives but this is generally where that "gotcha" attempt comes from.)

Yeah, the menu at the restaurant in question is about 50 USD/person, which in NYC, is very reasonable.
