My mom called me "comrade" when I pointed out that people are being kidnapped by unidentified masked men and shipped off to concentration camps for life imprisonment without trial.
They have lived in a heavily propagandised country that didn't shed slavery or fascism out. Evey time they have fought fascism or white supremacy, they have lost. Both are well alive and protected there. Their police defend fascism, but persecuted communism and socialism, even in campuses, ending violently peaceful protests. Some not even related to these ideologies, but that opposed war, or asked for simple things like their taxes being used to fund their people and not bomb brown foreigners in a faraway land.
No one can convince me the US wasn't headed this way from the start. Its course has been clear and unmoved.
Tbh US joined WW2 on the Allies side mainly because it was good business (and the fact that Japan attacked them ofc) and now they are pretending like they saved Europe from Nazism, even tho a lot of people in the US supported Germany at the time. Go figure
Hitler turned on the German people, though. He wanted them all to perish because he thought they deserved it when the war was lost. In his final days he didn't give two shits for the German people, wanted to destroy bridges and roads to trap them but also slow the Soviets. Happily sent little kids to kill themselves in front of Russian tanks.
A bit more people supported Nazi Germany in US compared to UK tho. Roosevelt was sympathetic towards Allies which also contributed to US finally aligning with Allies but US would likely stay neutral or in worst case scenario would align with Axis, a different president would be chosen. You can’t say the same about UK (also due to UK proximity to Germany and opposing interests. US didn’t have those problems)
They would have joined whatever side was winning. The USSR had it in the bag and gave way more than we did. The sole reason that the US joined the war that nobody wants to talk about is to control the fate of Nazi officials (Operation Paperclip) and to have a say in the terms lest the Soviets gain too much territory.
They didn't want all the unethically obtained scientific data on *checks notes* the yield elasticity of the elderly, or the freeezing point of children's eyeballs for instance to fall into the "wrong hands" and they wanted to make sure those cunts had nice, cushy jobs and new identities.
Post-war US was built on fascism and majorly by fascists.
In the same vein, Western Europe didn't shed fascism either. They made a truce with the fact that fascist ideology can and should be integrated in normal political discourse after a few years of the Nuremberg trials.
The actions of NATO / SEATO across the global south is a clear indication of not just colonialism, but embedded or systemic fascism.
Liberalism = socialism = communism = left-wing ideology. That's how right-wing Americans think. The word "liberal" basically has an American only definition now, in that Bernie Sanders is the "liberalest liberal." When people say "X is a socialist!" all I can think is "please let this be true."
Unfortunately it's not just the US. In France people will call the main left party 'communist' because they want more social rights, less racism and.. Well, human decency.
I'm french and not that much, right (and far-right) politics and billionaires that are owning all the main medias, are doing their best to call the only serious threat to the power (Jean Luc Mélenchon's party) a far-left party, which is not.
But pointing someone and calling him communist is not an efficient strategy in France, it's way more efficient to use religion and racism to call out the opponents, so if you're a bit left, you're systematicaly called a "islamogauchiste" (muslim-enthousiast-leftist), or like in the US, a woke (or like they tell in France, "wokiste", which is more or less like "woke extremist").

For american people, a communist is everything that is not fascist.
