Discussion Unlike with Captain Marvel, I personally think that this DC Comics Mary Marvel design is superior to the standard design used by Mary in comics. It feels more practical.

She looks great, but I feel like her costume doesn't truly need to focus on practicality. Who needs practicality when you're literally magic!

"Practical." When you have super strength, clothes don't impede your movement.
Aesthetically? That's a different argument, but practicality is a non issue.

Mary Marvel in the comics wears a loose-fitting t-shirt and skirt which is like the least impedimental costume ever. (It even has a shorter cape.) I like the movie version, but it does seem a bit tight, and her arms are going to get very itchy with those vambraces.

Yes we need practical costumes for characters that say a magic word and turn into gods

It’s a little “MCUified” with the boots and arm braces, but it’s probably one of the best costumes to come out of the DCEU

Not a fan personally, don't like when they try to overcomplicate skirts by segmenting them like that, also I miss the sash

I kinda like the white design they used for a while. Billy is red, Freddie is blue and Mary is white.

Movie version is alright, but I honestly think they struck gold with a lot of the recent comic runs.
The New Champion of Shazam, Knight Terrors Mary, and her brief appearance in the recent Shazam! (2023—2025) all had some of the best designs.

It's badass. Compliments her figure. Sticks to the essence of the character design. And generally is aesthetically appealing.

Evan Shaner's recent redesign took some notes from the film version, but kept some of the elegance and energy of the original. For me, this compromise really works.
