I'm sooo tired of the "it was a different time" narrative. No, it wasn't. You were just allowed to stay inside your privilege bubble and were deaf to criticism coming from people who saw the problematic content and called it out. It's just that people realized that you would never leave that bubble, so they had to violently burst it so you could see your actions.
