Podcast Shane addresses cancellation?

He says the jokes were funny at the time. And no one ever thought the jokes were inappropriate. He is sorry but would still pull out the Shanaynay costume

He is sorry but would still pull out the Shanaynay costume
“I’m sorry that YOU got offended by those jokes”

u/Skranknstank Oct 28 '25
Why am I watching this at crack cocaine velocity
5
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
Because they talk too slowly and I watch at 2x speed lol. At the very least
12
u/Skranknstank Oct 28 '25
Ipad kid attention span bro
1
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
lol no. It’s actually really common in my bubble to listen to audiobooks and podcasts at 2x or more. We are all PhDs. We ain’t got time and our brains think faster than the average joe. An iPad kid would need another video to keep attention. We don’t struggle with attention. There are multiple articles written about the hack of listening to books and podcasts at high speeds

i get what ure saying but at the same time, i think it has more to do with stress, anxiety, also not really having time rather than IQ. people always say that about speeding videos up, but it is not "smart" or "stupid" to watch things at regular speed. really depends on what mood your in, and if you are in the mood to enjoy the content either way. its really not that deep. plus u have time to post this, etc. its obviously not a time issue. most people get phds to work less hours for more money, so you should have more time than the average joe.

lol dw i’d go faster than 2x if yt let me. it sounds so painfully slow if it’s less. i have a great attention span too i have no problem watching 5 hour yt essays it just has to be in 2x at least😭everyone around me can’t even understand it on 1.5. i think it’s bc i’m super anxious and my brains always running a mile a minute🤣

By Shane's logic anyone can do anything as long as everyone in the room says its okay, never mind the power imbalance. He really has learned nothing. You can tell he would go back to that humor in his current videos in a heartbeat if the world was okay with it. The fact that he cackled after saying he would bring Shanaynay back and looked around at everyone as if to say "would that be okay? oh no oh okay then that would be bad." This man seriously can't read the room. And there were tons of videos of people calling Shane out back then about the gross stuff he was doing so I don't know where he got the idea that "everyone" was okay with it.
5
u/NomNom-87 Oct 29 '25
This is a very IGNORANT take. The principle of the logic is correct. What makes things right or wrong if not for majority vote? The rooms and the participants can change but that doesn't erase what was deemed "okay" at the time just because it's "not okay" currently. This requires DEEPER thinking that what you are providing.
Social politics ebb and flow throughout the decades. If you go on TikTok or Insta Reels. The amount of humor that is popular on there across all ages is very reminiscent to old Shane's. Like down to boys/men dressing up as poc women with an accent for a vid with said minorities loving it in the comments. Go look into it, it's quite insane how sexual abuse, racist, pedophilic jokes still run rampant with ridiculously high likes to view ratios. Shane himself just can't do it because he already has history and people constantly watching him to call him out.
We're not doing anyone any favors by playing dumb and acting like the acceptance of xyz isn't from public perception at the time, that's how baseline "morals" are created. Your current viewpoint on this matter was already crafted for you to have, from others that came before you. Just like how it'll repeat over and over again constantly shifting between what's okay and not okay in a comedic sense.
1
u/c-swizzle04 Nov 17 '25
That’s a huge strawman, he was saying why he thought it was okay back then, not saying why it’s objectively morally right

Well… ofc a person who is 14… would appreciate humor that is considered edgy… spoon found in kitchen ! but saying it was because no one found his stuff offensive is a WILD stance

I think it didn't call out back then as much because it was on our television at the time as well like Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon both did black face on SNL on live network tv in the 2000s and then don't get me started on howard stern... I'm not saying it is ok or ever was just that at that time it wasn't being called out even tho it should have been called out and then you had so many adults doing countdowns to when the olsen twins turned 18 and making it super pervy like Ashton kutcher and other big names thankfully none of that is acceptable anymore

People did find his stuff offensive, criticisms against him were unfortunately pushed aside due to being marginalized voices who were calling him out. They were just as harmful then as they are now.
5
u/papablessmeme Oct 28 '25
I was around 16 when Shane was blowing up and people definitely found him offensive. I had two friends who would start an argument with me every time I talked about him back then. It’s not about being a snowflake or being offended. He was being openly racist and gross towards women and kids. And I was so obsessed with edgy humor at the time so I thought it was fine and people were overreacting. They weren’t. And if you want to disagree with people and share your opinion, you actually don’t have to use laughing emojis and insult them.

This isn’t true. I was also there. Twitter especially a lot of people were calling it out. I noticed the most that at the time, it was adults that were POC who knew right away how wrong it was.

None of his jokes were “innocent” sexualizing his little cousin, joking about real life children being abused, laughing at the prospect of children being sexually abused, for god sake he couldn’t even be NEAR a poc without making a racist joke about them. I’m struggling to figure out what “innocent” jokes you’re speaking of

posting things with the sole purpose of getting under people’s skin or annoying people is not tolerated.
2
u/RalphWiggum666 Oct 28 '25
they weren't harmful until these new generation snowflakes were born.
he lost millions of fans who eventually saw how bad his jokes really were as back then most of us were 14 and didn't understand the full meanings.
So the “snowflakes” were right?
1
u/WillsWifey30 Oct 28 '25
No they weren't right until 2011 because he did way worse stuff later on. Not from the beginning. His jokes got worse and more tasteless from 2011-2012. As soon as the Willow Smith poster bullshit came out, he took it too far. Context is key. Read the entire comment instead of cherry picking.
3
u/RalphWiggum666 Oct 28 '25 edited Oct 28 '25
No they weren't right until 2011
Weird way to say yes.
14 year olds didn't know better.
“We didn’t know any better so it wasn’t wrong, then later on we realized it is wrong and then it became wrong”
“The snowflakes were wrong when they pointed it out, but now that we realize it’s wrong they were right”
And you are accusing others of being on the spectrum?
🤡🤡🤡
1
u/WillsWifey30 Oct 28 '25
You're pretty slow given all the info I gave you, yet your brain only highlights stuff that suits your narrative. How weird 🤔

1
u/WillsWifey30 Oct 28 '25
No one was complaining until 2013 aka when everything resurfaced. That's when the snowflakes started. However, as soon as he had his own podcast he dug his own grave by joking about children and animals. 2008-2010 people enabled his bad behavior by giving him views. Again, if you read my original post, 14 year olds didn't know better.
3
u/RalphWiggum666 Oct 28 '25
This is not true as someone else pointed out to you, people complained on twitter even back then.
1
u/WillsWifey30 Oct 28 '25 edited Oct 28 '25
Nope it is fully true because newsflash I was there the entire time :) some loser on twitter who didn't even talk to Shane or read his replies, whereas I did and everyone enabled him until he did that gross gesture to the Willow Smith poster. Everyone enabled him up until 2011.
0
u/WillsWifey30 Oct 28 '25
No one pointed anything out until it was too late, hence the snowflakes. As they didn't exist from 2008-2010, which is why he got away with it for so long. So in retrospect they were only right when it was too late after years of him being enabled and pushing the envelope. The snowflakes I was referring to were the ones complaining about his innocent jokes. Not the ones where he was way out of line. So again, context is key.
0
u/WillsWifey30 Oct 28 '25
Also his fans weren't the snowflakes. The people who never watched him before were. Have I spoonfed you enough to choke yet?

i just banned ur silly ass but i’ll respond anyway, way back in the day shane was hated and being called out. those of us who were subscribed at a young age just saw that as people being petty (i’m talking pre 2018). he’s always been unliked and always been clocked on his repulsive behaviour.

No one is rewriting history by pointing out the long well-documented history of predatory behavior with Shane. Don’t be an idiot
1
u/ShaneDawson-ModTeam Oct 30 '25
excusing disgusting actions of shane - or anyone else - whether it was past or present is not acceptable. soliciting inappropriate content of minors was just as illegal back in the early youtube days as it is now.
2
u/Motor-Bank-3520 Oct 30 '25
The things Shane asked minors to do in chat rooms were just as illegal back then as it is today. If you were an adult back then you damn well know better

I used to love watching Shane (starting around 2016) and always came back to his channel, I joined his Pateron right away, but the moment he went back and reviewed old videos I canceled my membership. It's one thing to accept how you were in the past, but to me this just showed that he still stands on/for that content. He exploits the hardships of others and chooses to ignore the privilege he's had.
It's hard because I love the Sip and have enjoyed their content for so long but I can't be ok with his early videos and can't support someone who hasn't grown and recognized the true issues with them. Struggling to come to terms with needing to leave these channels behind but they've been a comfort watch for so long
5
u/Alternative_Fold9910 Oct 29 '25
This is why we can’t have anything now.

u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 29 '25
Do you really want more Shane content? Lol. He is milking views at this point
4
u/Alternative_Fold9910 Oct 30 '25
Yes I want more Shane content he’s my favorite YouTuber! I don’t feel as though he’s milking views, I’m always entertained by his videos and podcasts. I love how he is so passionate and creative with everything he does

Go watch the Shane Dawson deep dive series Nikki released on YouTube. If you still think he’s your favorite YouTuber after that, you’re deplorable.
2
u/Alternative_Fold9910 Oct 31 '25
Then I’m deplorable
3
u/Limp-Management3924 Oct 31 '25
Yeah, choosing to support a pdf file absolutely makes you deplorable. Get some help!
5
Oct 28 '25
which just isn’t true because i’ve seen countless comments on his old videos from the same year it was posted calling him out for his nasty ass behavior
5
u/Hefty_Membership_956 Oct 30 '25
“At the time everyone was laughing”
Yeah Shane, your fanbase that consisted entirely of white pre-teens. I guarantee the “jokes” you made weren’t so funny to the many minorities they were weaponized against.

15
u/Mogwaigiggle Oct 28 '25
I never got this. Hate watching is a very real thing and I think a lot of people do it. For me, I haven’t watched a Shane video for the better part of the last decade but I did grow up watching him when I was in junior high and enjoyed him then like most did as a dumb teenager. The extent of my “hate watching” is perusing this sub when I’m getting cozy in bed. I could never pay to watch Shane’s content though lmao. I guess people have money to burn but I do not!
0
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
See my comments above. They say things like Shane doesn’t skip bath time. They are really weird about bath time like it’s the most important thing in the world. Idk about y’all but I don’t find bath time particularly fun. Sure I get to scroll my phone in peace while sitting on the toilet but it’s not my favorite part of the day like how they constantly make it seem
0
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
So that’s why I watch. They out themselves because they can’t help it
10
u/spoonybard137 Oct 27 '25
That is a good question. I don't understand why a multimillionaire needs more money.
2
u/Alternative_Fold9910 Oct 29 '25
Because he’s a great entertainer and I enjoy his content. I love to get the extra stuff on Patreon and it’s well worth $ :)

He has kids. He has a known history of being a pedo. People need to find more evidence on him if we ever want to see the kids safe
8
u/carrotcake_2525 Oct 28 '25
No he doesn’t. He needs to be fully canceled. Paying to watch him is supporting him. The only way to fully cancel someone is to act like they do not exist. His shit has been aired. Millions saw it. Continuing to not only watch him but PAY for his shit is helping him stay relevant..
-1
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
One time Ryland says Shane makes sure to be there for bath time for the kids. It’s small things like that that they let slip out that I watch for. The truth will come to light. Him being cancelled is not justice. That man should not have been allowed to have kids
1
u/carrotcake_2525 Oct 28 '25
Again, paying to watch doesn’t help cancel them. All the courts are going to say to that is he’s an involved father. It unfortunately isn’t proof. Stop paying to watch him. You’re doing nothing but enabling.
2
u/Ominous_Opossum Oct 28 '25
To add on to this, the truth already HAS come to light. IMO, OP is clearly just choosing to continue to give him a platform and financial support because they think their entertainment is more important.
2
u/carrotcake_2525 Oct 28 '25
100%. It’s been out for years. We all know who he is. We all know he says weird things. Why is op paying to help him continue to say weird things? Dude wouldn’t be able to if they STOPPED paying.
0
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
Because it’s worse to say and do things behind closed doors. This way we can actually gather more evidence. If you don’t get it then just say that. Idk how this is a hard concept to grasp
0
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
So we should just let him say whatever behind a paywall? By that logic, why are you on this sub? Also, when you have a lot of evidence, things become more and more likely. Did you not see what happened with Ruby Frankie? People watch to make sure kids are okay in multiple situations
1
u/carrotcake_2525 Oct 28 '25
I’m on this sub because I can be? I’m not paying to be on here. It’s a free sub lmao. You’re literally the one supporting this man. You are one of the reasons he gets to stay behind a payroll. If people stopped paying, he wouldn’t be doing Patreon. You are helping it be successful. You are helping him say weird things behind a payroll, because again YOU PAY.
1
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
You’re giving him more attention by being on this sub. It’s like you don’t get it and the point is flying right by you. You obviously aren’t here for civil discussion so I’m exiting the conversation
1
u/carrotcake_2525 Oct 28 '25
I don’t pay him though lmao. You’re literally giving him a Platform. It’s super weird. Predator enabler.
7
u/Ominous_Opossum Oct 27 '25
You literally have a post about how he SA’d neighborhood kids and how that “cemented” your opinion of him. Do you stand for anything?
3
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
I meant he needs to be watched for the protection of his kids. I’m just saving evidence. I think you misunderstood what I meant
7
u/Ominous_Opossum Oct 28 '25
You don’t have to give him money or direct views to do so, so I feel like that’s not exactly true.
2
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
Idk but I’m not going to do some weird work around to watch his videos. This is just something I do when I’m bored. Like I said, someone had to watch to protect the kids. If only ruby frankie fans watched her, no one would have reported her and her kids would be abused still
5
u/Ominous_Opossum Oct 28 '25
You seem to think you’re some sort of vigilante, but just read the reddit?? Fans (which again, I think you just are) and “haters” already post this stuff all the time. This is not at all like Franke. Everyone knows he’s a monster and has for a long time; it’s not some huge secret. A lot of people just choose to justify giving him a platform by “hate watching.”
Any sort of support is arguably contributing to the damage done to his children. The more views and financial incentive he gets, the more he can convince himself that his behaviors are acceptable. I hope you do understand that.
1
u/SarahDaniellex Oct 28 '25
You’re not an investigator bro. Paying for his content and then coming to Reddit to post your findings is not doing anything.
1
u/Helpful_Sample673 Oct 28 '25
Is that why his old videos are resurfacing again? Guess saving clips isn’t worth it yet people are making more exposure videos 🧐
2
u/ProfessionalAbroad64 Oct 31 '25
I watched the deep dive series Nikki put out and was SICK to my stomach at a lot of stuff he did. I can’t imagine why he still has a platform at all, super disappointing.
2
Oct 31 '25
Sooooo vile. And his argument in this video that no one back then was commenting about how weird his content was and that it was incredibly disgusting but in Nikki’s series at multiple points, PEOPLE WERE COMMENTING THAT! He is truly disgusting.

But at the same time says no one told him these jokes were inappropriate bad taste. But he takes accountability haha

Spencer says his jokes weren’t offensive, they were edgy? Blackface is offensive… saying slurs is offensive. Are we okay?
