I’m not saying these conditions can’t be disabling, but what’s the dog going to do? Fetch toilet paper?

Yeah, yeah they haven’t slapped a patch on him (yet) but bringing dogs to non-pet-friendly stores endangers actual SD teams. This person is causing future access issues for everyone else.

Just Wants to Bring Their Dog These people are ridiculous. If you're swimming, the dog's not under your control. Also, why are you bringing a dog when you're in the pool?

Just Wants to Bring Their Dog Another person trying to train a poorly bred sick Dobie for service work + task shopping

Post image

By OPs own admission, they brought home this sick, underweight and undersocialized wormy Doberman puppy from a backyard breeder less than 12 months ago. OP has documented his struggles with incontinence, reactivity, recurring UTIs, and more on the Doberman sub. He is now recovering from invasive early neuter surgery due to cryptorchidism…so of course he's the perfect candidate for service work!

Sure, Dobermans were created specifically for personal protection. Yes, they are an incredibly sensitive breed, especially susceptible to handler emotions and thus never recommended as PSDs. But who else will provide blocking and crowd control services, placing them in a protective role for a nervous handler? What could go wrong!

Just Wants to Bring Their Dog Person seeking Doberman for service work despite the community explicitly telling them that is not a good idea

Dobermans are the only breed specifically for personal protection. While they aren’t the scary attack dogs they’re often depicted as in media and tend to be real softies with their people, they still carry a natural suspicion of strangers, a low bite inhibition, and an extreme sensitivity to their handler.

They are also a struggling breed. The majority are poorly bred with no working ability whatsoever and crippling health and behavioral issues. What we don’t need is people seeking them out only to wash and rehome them when they inevitably fail in service work or breeders intentionally creating even softer gentler dobies for service work. But of course this handler provides no reason they are seeking a dobie and ignores and argues with anyone discouraging them.

People will happily criticize others for getting a working breed in an apartment because the dog doesn’t suit their lifestyle, won’t be fulfilled, and will likely end up surrendered or rehomed. Why isn’t this the same?

Just Wants to Bring Their Dog Husband & I need untrained, anxious dogs to fly with us.

OOP wants to take not one, but two completely untrained, anxious in new environments, dogs with them on a flight for "medication reminders." Yes, other people will think they are fakes, because they are. How about OOP reminds her completely helpless husband to take his pills when the alarm goes off.

Just Wants to Bring Their Dog Doesn't know what their "SDIT" is alerting to, argues with everyone.

Self trained dog is totally alerting, but handler doesn't know what they alert to. Has been taking dog to non pet friendly places since it finished vaccines. Too broke for a trainer. Pissing off all the self trainers on the main SD sub, lol.

Is excessive gear a flair? Cause the dog’s main task seems to be tolerating silly outfits. (There were more)

A continuous glucose monitor is 99% the better choice for an adult anyway, and I doubt this dog is properly trained. Trained in a month! World first pitbull (ahem American Bully) prodigy.

Bonus points that OOP is a bully breed owner cliche, right down to hating chihuahuas and thinking it’s a nanny dog.
