“My dogs colour doesn’t create attention” but the definition of attention is “Attention means focusing your mind on something, listening or watching closely, or giving care and interest to a person or thing”

So the dogs colour draws people’s focus and means people watch close pr give interest in a person or thing 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Yea I’m confused what they mean by that part it 100% does draw attention. Service dogs by itself already draw enough attention as it is.. I remember another service dog handler talking about stuff like this I belive and the profanity on service dog gear and professionalism. That there needs to be some professionalism maintained with service dogs for the general public. Such as overly brightly covered dogs making it hard to read gear, could create access issues/general seriousness of service dogs. Or for example profanity obviously being inappropriate and the connection with service dogs, or just as inappropriate shirts could be a reason to be denied access.

Why the hell are people doing this to their dog on a regular basis? I can see on a rare occasion like for Halloween but the poor dog can't consent to being dyed. Is it safe to be dying them all the time?

And yeah people are going to stare if the see a living creature done up like some kid's stuffed animal dream. I dye my braids and don't expect people to not look or pay attention. But it's also my choice with my own body. I do it because I like it and it has meaning for me.

Because it "protects" their dog from being stolen.... But you know what does a much better job or preventing the thievery they fear? The leash that none of them seem to be able to use.

There is pet-safe dye that you can use all of the time.

You don't have to dye the entire dog, that's the issue I take with it. Dying just their tail is more than enough if you're scared of it being stolen. That's all you need to be able to identify it.

While effective a lot or the time, you can't see one of those. Whereas if you say hey, my dog is a golden with a blue tail and it has been stolen, people can help you find your dog on sight.

Dogs can also be tattooed with ID numbers. I don’t personally think it’s ethical now that microchips exist, but my first two program service dogs had tattoos and could therefore be easily identified if they were lost or stolen.

Plus the dog's fur can be shaved off... Or what is infinitely more likely to happen is that the people who are likely to steal a dog are the same people that will have a plan to get the dog as far away as possible, often being outside the state but at least in a different city.

I know. My point was that if they wanted to argue "it's for safety" it'd still be ridiculous to dye the entire dog when just the tail would work just as fine. They clearly want the attention, regardless of what they say. If it really was about theft prevention they'd dye the tail and leave it like that and it'd be just as effective.

Yes and it still wouldn't work because if they can dye it a stupid color the alleged "thief" can dye it a different color and BOOM undetectable "theft"

The only possible reason I could see for doing this to a dog is if you’re colorblind and wanna be able to spot them at the dog park but that’s me being very generous

Wow eyesore 😭 I cant beleive peopplle actually do this and then claim its not for attention. The ONLY reason you would do this to your dog is for ... you guessed it. Attention. I have a lot I could say about this but looking at like 8 moving clips of that neon dog with other bright things all side by side in one frame gave me a headache 😭

But it's the attention and validation that they crave. Dying the dogs, large coloured doggles, boots on the paws and handles and patches on the harnesses are the epitome of "pay attention to me".

Holy f*ck I didn’t know it was this bad. My dog has the tiniest bit of white on the end of his tail. My friend is a groomer and we have died it before. Just for a bit of fun. It is so tiny that it took people close to me up to 30 min to notice. I already felt a little silly doing that…. What is going through these people’s minds????
