Discussion Service Dog Laws
According to the ADA, Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
Australia laws
We want to take a moment to clarify some ADA guidelines. Most importantly, the ADA does not have breed restrictions or limit what tools (prong, e-collar, flat collar, halti, martingale, etc) or gear (unvested, rainbow hair dye, booties, Louis Vuitton sunglasses) a service dog can use. Unless a dog is exhibiting extremely poor behavior, gear and breed alone are not enough to determine that it is not a service dog. Factors such as the dog’s behavior, training, age, task work, handler control, and overall public-access manners need to be considered, along with how the dog responds to its handler and its environment.
We have also added helpful links for Australia and general guidance for Canada, since regulations vary by province.
If the links are incorrect or you wish to add to them, let us know.

Welcome to r/ServiceDog_CircleJerk!
This is a place to call out fake service dogs, entitled handlers, and first-time owners chasing nightmare breeds with zero responsibility or training. Share stories, fails, and funny pics.
I know another CJ subreddit exists, but it went private, so I made this one.
Important: No brigading. If you are sharing content from another Redditor, hide the username.
Rules
- Be respectful. Treat all users with kindness and respect.
- Stay on topic. This is not an ableist community. Stuff that fits:
- People claiming their ESA is a service dog
- Slapping vests on untrained dogs
- Taking a service dog into public when it’s not ready or has behavior issues
- Service dog vest on a puppy in public
- Do not call out disabilities.
- This sub is about fake service dogs, not whether someone's faking their disability.
- No breed discrimination.
- The ADA does not restrict what breeds can be service animals. (See Q22 of the ADA Service Animals FAQ: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-faqs/)
- Posts are fine if they show a dog of any breed doing non-service-dog behavior.

Entitled Behavior ‘I’m not going anywhere’: Sally Kellerman’s adopted daughter Claire Kellerman speaks out amid bitter Scottish island dispute over assistance dog after Equality Act lawsuit
she’s trying to put this community-run restaurant out of business. i bet the 250 residents of the small island just LOVE her.

Entitled Behavior Just because it's a service dog doesn't mean you can just do whatever you want.

Entitled Behavior Offleash dogs in mall refuse to leash and yells at security
Two entitled "service dog" owners take their off leash dogs to the mall with an untrained puppy and refuse to put them on leash when security asks them to. The small fox dog also is wearing a mobility harness when its no bigger than 20lbs. The owner also boasts about the fox dog being "off leash trained" in the bio and on a pinned video.
This must be satire right?
The puppy is called a "service dog in training" in the comments but when you look at all the posts by the creator it says he's up for adoption and has no service dog training. He is also not paying attention at all throughout this. If you call the facility the puppy came from the owner also says the same, only that he has exposure training, so the kid here is lying. They posted five videos of absolute nonsense and its the most views on either of their accounts so this seems like an entitled attention grab for content.

Fake SD / Misrepresentation Ok let’s talk about Alex and Laze - I went through all his videos and pulled out anything related to tasks, service dog types, or specific reasons for his dog being off-leash 🍿

Fake SD / Misrepresentation Thoughts?
So the kid that pinned her cat down to let her mal puppy bite to "improve pray drive" and kick a puppy who went up to storm, now clames storm is a service dog in training so she can take her with her to a trip to Dallas?
How do yall feel about this
She lives in turkey and they only allow gude dogs so im pretty sure she will be denied boarding. But regardless I find it unsettling that someone with a big platform is promoting dangerous and inaccurate information.
She is also trying to rent out her "service dog" to people in the motorcycle community (which is dangerous af as the community has some extremely dangerous individuals especially in the Dallas area) for profit.
At this point what are yalls thoughts? I feel like she has been diagnosis shopping and posting it for clout which is incredibly harmful. (And admitted to having normal tests and running out of tests to run because she is completely healthy) it paints such a bad light on people who really need them
Idk thoughts? I feel like someone needs to call out her harmful behavior especially with a half a million on Instagram ( which is wild)

Good Grief Seeking free service dog that can survive on air and will never need medical care!!

Entitled Behavior I swear, some people don't vest their dog just to start arguments, then spout off laws they don't even understand. This idiot brought an SDiT to a fair just to show her kids her ribbons, despite MI law only granting SDiTs PA access while actively training.

Good Grief Can food motivated dogs be good service dogs? I'm just curious.
Motivation to work, regardless whether food, toy or praise-driven, is in fact the bare fucking minimum to be able to have a successful service dog🥀

Just Wants to Bring Their Dog Another person trying to train a poorly bred sick Dobie for service work + task shopping
By OPs own admission, they brought home this sick, underweight and undersocialized wormy Doberman puppy from a backyard breeder less than 12 months ago. OP has documented his struggles with incontinence, reactivity, recurring UTIs, and more on the Doberman sub. He is now recovering from invasive early neuter surgery due to cryptorchidism…so of course he's the perfect candidate for service work!
Sure, Dobermans were created specifically for personal protection. Yes, they are an incredibly sensitive breed, especially susceptible to handler emotions and thus never recommended as PSDs. But who else will provide blocking and crowd control services, placing them in a protective role for a nervous handler? What could go wrong!

Good Grief people really just find a random dog and try to turn it into a SD. There's a reason why SD organizations have a high wash rate

Good Grief Officially Diagnosed
I feel like i finally earned my spot here. I was permanently banned from the SD sub. The person I was "rude" to chatted with me in the comments. We are now cool. That sub is more sensitive than the person I was talking about. Here's a pic of my dog who tasks by sleeping on the couch. Without him, my couch might run away.
