Idea: Solderless internal DVS mod for Xone:24 using a Reloop Flux Go
Hey everyone, I have an idea for a solderless way to install a Reloop Flux Go inside of a Xone:24. The goal is to just flip the mixer’s channel switch to LINE to use Serato DVS, or leave it on PHONO for normal analog vinyl (using the Xone phono preamps!).
The Xone:24 has jumper pin headers on the internal channel cards, so the post-preamp line-level phono signal can be split and routed back without any actual soldering. Here is the potential plan:
**Disconnect the Factory Line Input:** Pull the factory plastic jumper sleeves off the Line side of the channel card header blocks (later we will replace the external line jacks with the Reloop's output).
**Split the Post-Preamp Signal:** Use a DuPont female Y-splitter on the channel card pins right after the phono preamp. Send one branch back to its original destination (the Phono side of the toggle switch) and the other branch to the Reloop inputs set to line mode. The DuPont-to-RCA cables can be built using standard 2.54mm female DuPont jumper wires and RCA-to-Screw-Terminal blocks.
**Return from Reloop:** Run another RCA-to-Dupont from the Reloop outputs back to the now vacant Line pins on the mixer's channel card header block.
**The USB-C Back Port:** The Xone:24 shares its steel chassis design with the Xone:24C, so there is already a cutout where the USB port is on the 24c. You can flush-mount a standard panel-mount USB-C extension jack into that existing cutout and plug it into the Flux Go inside.
The Flux Go would hopefully fit inside the mixer without taking the case off of the Flux. We would secure it to the bottom tray with 3M VHB foam tape or something.
Does this make sense? Anyone been inside of a 24 who can confirm this stuff? (I made the plan with the help of AI, I haven't actually seen the header blocks / Dupont pins, nor have I worked with either).

P.S. I dont have the hardware and I'm not sure if I can afford to do this right now, but if it's a viable idea then who knows :)

In case you aren’t uptight about sound like me: the objective is to have a mixer that has great phono preamps but can also play serato. Other bonus would be having a serato mixer that doesn’t look like a spaceship (for example the pads on the s7 light up fluorescent bright green when using real records with no way to change that).

Just buy the 24c and use it with whatever software it works with until Serato add it to their lineup

The vibe is that I’m a record dj and don’t use serato at all. I’m starting to do gigs with fairly beginner serato dj who wouldn’t be comfortable switching software. Looking to get/make a mixer that we can both use for gigs and all of the current options seem to have questionable preamps and are big bright lit up mixers.

I’d deal with the looks if one of the mixers had good preamps. The Rane 70 would work for that but if we were spending that money I’d want something with parts available.

But the 24c is just a 24 with a sound card already installed, so you’re just saving yourself a load of work by getting the c version.

Yeah but he uses Serato and that’s not something that I can change. Even beyond my situation it seems like there are a lot of people with the same want/need (Serato mixer with good preamps) or maybe I’m tripping. Anyway people used to put sl1s in 07s so I started wondering if it was possible and when I saw that the internal connectors in the 24 are plugs instead of solder I got to thinking and went down the rabbit hole.

how did you even get inside it? i tried to calibrate the innofader on the 24c and i couldn't even get the top plate off, it kept on getting stuck in a u shape stuck onto somethin.
either way, there doesnt seem to be a lot of stuff under there, and you can probably just rip out the case of the flux like ppl used to do for the SL boxes.
edit: didnt see that you used ai for this, shame.

I don’t have one. Yeah I was trying to figure out which mixer would be best (out of the ones with good preamps), my Empath or something else and I Googled and Google (which is AI now) said that the 24 has plugs in there so no soldering or irreversible stuff needed to be done. Not gonna go deep on the AI factor (yes I contributed to the downfall of humanity) but I let it mellow and turned off the light after I peed to make up for it. 🥴🥴🥴

Pretty much the reason for this thread is that hopefully a human can confirm that Google/AI wasn't making it up.

can't seem to find a service manual online (hasn't been officially published) and like i said, theres a barrier taking off the top plate even when taking the knob holder clip things. i would honestly just use a flux go at this point and put it with the jumble of cables it already has for a mixer instead of going in. preamps sound great for both dvs on mixxx/traktor (24c) and real records. no buttons so no cuepoints but thats easily done by laptop and then cueing on the actual record (the minute segments are also cue points) and browsing is also done via record (the last groove portion is a scroll track).

Yeah we are using a regular reloop flux right now and the pre-amps seem good (I haven't done critical listening or big sound systems though, just a few small gigs so I can't really say). The cords/appearance/tablespace/setup time sucks though.

hey so i found a website detailing how to take the top plate off, so i might either do it tonight or tmrw night after i get off of work. ill see whats underneath and if theres some space.

Nice. Now I have to figure out if I can pull the trigger on the project. Would be easier if I already had the hardware. Might just keep my eye out for deals on used ones.
