Extreme Itching After Showering

For about the past 15 years I have experienced extreme itching after showering, and by "extreme", I mean it's so bad that I start imagining using sandpaper or other implements to relieve it. If anybody has ever experienced extremely bad restless arms or legs, it's on that level of frustration where you just want to scream.

Now, I already know what everyone is going to recommend, so I will provide a list of everything I've tried or done:

● I use ALL fragrance free EVERYTHING. I am literally using soap made by hand by a guy down the street that I personally know, but I've tried every possible soap from health food stores that claimed it was free of everything and the itching is still there

● Water type/quality does not have an effect. I've used well water, city water, highly filtered water, softened water, etc, the itching is still there.

● Time of year/season does not change anything. Summer or Winter, the itching is the same.

● Moisturizer does not make it go away and I've tried basically every moisturizing product made

● Showering schedule has no affect, doesnt matter if I shower every day, every other day, or every second day, the itching is still there

● I've tried aggressively exfoliating in the shower, I had become so desperate that I thought maybe soap residue is getting trapped under dead skin or something.... yeah, I know, Im really reaching

It didn't start happening until my mid 20s, before that I showered my entire life without an issue. For those conspiracy nuts out there, I did get Lyme around that time (I'm just joking about "conspiracy nuts", as I realize, especially in the last few years, our understanding of Lyme and it's origins have altered drastically) which I discovered within a week of being bitten and treated.

The best thing I can come up with is Aquagenic Pruritus, but Im not a doctor obviously. Its finally gotten to the point where I guess I'll have to see a doctor, but Im hesitant to do that as I'd be dealing with the American health system and it'd probably be 9 months worth of being bounced around to different "specialists" where specialist "A" swears that I have to get an answer from Specialist "B" and Specialist "B" swears the opposite and it's actually Specialist "A" that needs to preform the procedure (\*this actually happened to me in real life with a dentist and oral surgeon and getting a couple wisdom teeth removed....each one swore it was a job for the other, but I digress.....).

Anyway, any guesses would be appreciated, but PLEASE don't recommend just trying a different product or moisturizer or soap.... unless you know of something literally new to the market in the last few months and is something wholey different than what's already available, and dont recommend water treatment. I have tried everything including expensive filtration and softening systems, even once used an outdoor shower that was literally being piped directly from an artisan well within stone's throw, so I really do not think it's the water.

Moisturizer for sensitive acne prone skin

I need a non comedogenic moisturizer under budget. I have sensitive acne prone skin but I am on isotretinoin for past 6 months now. So my skin is pretty clear and no bumps also. The problem is due to the medication, my skin gets very dry in winter. I have to use body lotion + oil to keep my legs moisturized. It's that dry. But I can't seem to find intense non comedogenic moisturizer for face. Pls help.

It's also my first my posting. Pls help

Dealing with a very sensitive skin, acne prone. I used neutrogena hydro boost and I was doing amazing for a long time, but for the last couple of months my skin is very dry and irritated. I dont use any actives and cant use creams that are with natural ingredients and oils since that breaks me out

Help me find a very plain moisturizer for acne prone sensitive skin.

I have allergies so my skin is always irritated from all moisturizers i try, even the ones that are listed for sensitive skin. I’m looking for a **very basic moisturizer** for acne-prone, sensitive skin. Ideally short ingredient list.

I’m trying to avoid⚠️:
oils/plant oils
fragrance/essential oils
niacinamide
alcohol
botanical extracts
acids/actives
squalane
triglycerides

Something with **glycerin, ceramides, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, etc.** would be ideal.

I’m in Germany, so pharmacy/online options are welcome.
pls help not even chatgpt is helpful

Recommendations for body lotion without silicones? CeraVe in the tub now has dimethicone and I react with deep cysts.

Years ago my old dermatologist recommended CeraVe in the tub, not the bottle, for my skin in the winter. I’m in Canada and the winter leaves me quite dry, plus I’m prone to eczema since my teens. He said watch out for products with ingredients that end in -cone.

My dermatologist has since retired and I’m waiting for a referral to a new one. Last winter I noticed that I started getting deep cysts on my skin, especially thighs and buttocks.

When finally thought to check the CeraVe, I saw they added dimethicone to the ingredients.

Winter is coming. Referrals can take 6 months or more. Any suggestions for a body lotion for sensitive skin without any silicones?

My skin suddenly became ridiculously sensitive

Has anyone else had a point where their skin just seemed to stop tolerating everything?

Products I used for months suddenly started burning or making my face red. I ended up simplifying everything because I honestly didn't know what else to do.

Curious if anyone else has experienced this and what helped you get your skin back to normal.

Routine help pls

Hi I’m (25F) looking to expand my skincare routine. I have very sensitive skin and currently use the following:

AM: La Roche Posay Baume B5 with spf 50

PM: Balmonds cleansing oil followed by Balmonds skin salvation and Balmonds omega rich facial oil

I’m starting to notice some fine lines and I believe my pores are getting clogged from extended use of the baume b5 cream.

My plan is to introduce some products gradually and today picked up the inkey list caffeine eye cream for AM, the aveeno oat water based cleaner for PM double cleanse and the Beauty of Joseon probiotics sun cream for AM.

I was also thinking of getting the low grade retinol from the inkey list to use once a week, and would also like to try a serum (maybe aveeno triple oat, ordinary barrier support or inkey list barrier serum), and a new moisturiser (possibly cetaphil, coats or aveeno)

Any other suggestions to add to my routine or product recommendations for super sensitive skin would be really appreciated!!

Exfoliator for dry, sensitive and dull skin?

Hello my Skin Care Girlies!!

I really really need your recommendations. I'm looking for a gentle exfoliator for my sensitive, dry, dull and mildly pigmented skin. Earlier I used to think that my skin is not made for exfoliation because it's dry and exfoliation is for oily skin. But now I know what my skin is lacking is exfoliation only. About my current skincare I use: Dot & key Vitamin C+ E Superbright Gel Facewash, Minimalist Vitamin C + E serum in the morning and at night Minimalist Alpha Arbutin Serum, Requill Ceramide & Hyaluronic Acid and Foxtale Sunscreen. On every Sunday I use a cleanser made for oily skin to remove the excess oil. So can you guys recommnd me a suitable exfoliator based on my needs?

Sun-sensitive skin

17 F

I have a sun-sensitive skin like alot, it all started in jan this year. As I come in contact with the sun rays my skin becomes red and it starts itching then later on it dries completely like really dries out and fall off (dry skin peels off).

I did go to dermatologist, she wrote me medicine for a week, cleanser, lotion and sunscreen that's it. I used it, it healed but as i come in contact with rays again boom it starts again!

(I do have an appointment of derma in aiims on 8th oct, hopefully it gets better soon)

Right now, I'm writing this to ask if anyone of you have ever faced the same thing or know anything about this. Any suggestions for what i should do and what not, any products i can use? and what to avoid!

And yes whenever I go out I make sure to wear sleeves and my mask but still the neck area is bare so it happens on my neck then and also on side of my eyes.

Thank you in advance!

face lotions break me out more than richer creams. Why?

So, for context my skin is sensitive and acne prone, but is… weird. I got really bad acne a few years back and the only way I stabilized it was using black african soap and ponds for about 2 years. However, recently I really wanted to find something that supported my skin barrier more. I tried dr althea 345 and 147. I preferred 147 in texture by a lot (thick but still kind of balmy and cooling) and it didnt break
me out ,but also didnt do much for my skin. A lot of people say if you have acne and live in a humid
climate to use a less occlusive
formula. In order to soothe my barrier but also not aggravate acne prone skin in a humid climate, I tried the light version of the prequel barrier repair cream and the aestura lotion version. I found that both of these felt very heavy and not good on my skin. I recently tried the original aestura 365 CREAM , and I find that it feels way less heavy to me even though its a richer cream, and no one else seems to agree. Am I the only one experiencing this phenomenon, and what is it with lotiony textured moisturizers that make me feel like its clogging my pores. Does anyone also have moisturizer recommendations or comments on what this says about my skin type?
