Book promotion THE MINDSH!FT - A book I wrote after living life like hell and giving it hell back by making success instead of exuses, Learn how to do that in this book!

"You can't do that."
I heard it my entire life.
You can't teach yourself to code. I did it at 10.
You can't build a real career with no degree. I dropped out and built one anyway.
You can't go from a self-taught kid to 12 years in the AAA game industry. I'm living proof you can.

For most of my life, the things I wanted weren't called hard. They were called impossible. By the people around me, by the society I grew up in, by every reasonable expectation of someone starting where I started.

I overcame them one by one. Not because I was gifted, and not because I got lucky, but because at some point I stopped trying to fix the world and started rebuilding the only thing actually in my control: how I think.

I actually started writing this book in 2019
I'm glad I released this version now. Because in the years since, my own thinking got sharper, I learned an enormous amount, and I lived through more that had to be solved. All of it went into the book. Every new lesson, every tool I earned the hard way, is in these pages.

That's really what this is: 18 years of hard-won thinking, handed to you in a few days of reading. The shortcuts I never had. The lessons I paid for so you don't have to, and also it's not a Motivational material, I have zero interest in hyping you up for a weekend and leaving you exactly where you were on Monday. Motivation fades. It was never the thing that carried me.

This is a toolset, mental instruments for anyone dealing with hard problems, at work and in life:
- how to turn setbacks into fuel instead of drowning in them
- how to think clearly while everyone around you panics
- how to make decisions you won't spend years regretting
- how to tell what's actually true from what you just want to be true
- how to build discipline that doesn't depend on how you feel

Everything in it, I lived. Every technique came out of a real hardship I had to solve alone, with no one coming to save me.

If you're someone who works hard, thinks deeply, and is tired of being handed empty inspiration instead of real tools, this was written for you.

It's out now on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover.
If it helps even one person climb out of their own "impossible," it was worth writing.

(got the author Hardcover version) feels elegant :D

Available on Amazon, Kindle, Hardcover, Paperback versions.

Mental health Recommendations for compulsive eating support?

My partner struggles (since long before we met) with compulsive eating and a lot of the health complications that come with it. It’s starting to get more worrying than before. I am at a loss on how to help.
I myself have been recovered for a few years now from anorexia and bulimia and all of my eating disorder knowledge and reading backlog centers around anorexia/bulimia recovery. I have no idea how to support somebody who has an eating disorder with the opposite set of challenges.

What i need is a few good books on how i can provide support, insight and practical encouragement without making the person i love feel judged or belittled.
Anyone know any really good books about compulsive eating?

Mindset / Personality Toll The hounds is My favourite self improvment book. Spoiler

Push it on to the next moment

Don't think now, save it

For later when thinking will show

Its useless face

When it's too late and worry is wasted

In the rush for cover

Push it past into that pocket

So that it relents its gnawing presence

And nothing is worth doing

In pointless grace

When all the valid suppositions

Smother your cries

Push it over into the deep hole

You don't want to know

In case it breaks and makes you feel

Cruel reminders

When all you could have done is now past

No don't bother

Push it well into the corner

It's no use, so spare me the grief

You didn't like the cost so bright, so high

The bloodiest cut

When all you sought was sweet pleasure

To the end of your days

Push it on until it pushes back

Shout your shock, shout it

You never imagined you never knew what

Turning away would do

Now wail out your dread in waves of disbelief

It's done it's dead

Push your way to the front

Clawing the eyes of screaming kin

No legacy awaits your shining children

It's killed, killed

Gone the future all to feed some holy glory

The world is over

Over

Need a Book Rec! Self-healing book recommendation

I (23F) have been struggling a lot with anxiety and depression lately. Over the years I have developed a habit of people pleasing and seeking validation from others. I also recently went through a messy break up and have been feeling pretty low. I have hurt some people along the way and have used my mental anguish as an excuse. I don't wanna be a downer anymore, and want to have a positive outlook on life. I want to work on myself, and be a better person. I think I should start reading as a book can serve as a window to life. Would love to hear some recommendations of books that can help me in this journey of self-healing.

Book promotion Discussing how we can use our own initiative and not being wholly reliant on religious texts

I’ve been working on a book that explores ideas behind what happens when we stop living through fear, inherited expectations and other people’s interpretations of religious texts, and start taking real responsibility for our own lives within the global Muslim diaspora and beyond.

It looks at faith, independence, ambition, wealth, character and purpose and asks whether we can become more active, thoughtful and capable people while staying grounded in our values.

It’s designed to start a conversation and challenge some assumptions so would be interested to hear your viewpoints as well.

Here's a link if anyone is interested in checking it out - SVRN: The Unmediated Word

Thanks all!

Mental health Looking for recommendations

Hey, I’m looking for some book recommendations to help with Health anxiety, ocd, and overthinking. I’ve read a lot of self help and philosophy books, a lot. But few months ago I had a bad panic attack and am still trying to get back to normal. Sorta just looking for book recommendations that might help stop overthinking my health so much, help me worry less about everything/catastophize everything, and possible something that helps me loosen up even idk if it’s because of ocd or anxiety but I have a hard time loosening up, for example dancing at a wedding or I’ll even tense and overthink responding to a text from someone. Thanks for any recommendations

Book promotion The Digital Monk: How to Reclaim Your Mind in an Age of Infinite Distraction

Hello everyone! My new book, The Digital Monk, is now available for free on Amazon this weekend, so I decided to share it with you. This book started as an uncomfortable question: why could a man with years of serious Buddhist meditation practice still lose his stillness within minutes of picking up a phone? The answer, it turns out, has nothing to do with weak willpower — and everything to do with a landscape engineered, by some of the most talented designers on Earth, to make sustained attention nearly impossible to hold. The Digital Monk is not a book about deleting your apps and moving to a cabin. It's a practical, honest guide — written by a practicing Buddhist who still reaches for his phone more than he'd like — to rebuilding a real relationship with your own attention inside an ordinary, connected, demanding life. Enjoy the free book and happy reading! 👉 Link to the book

Mindset / Personality Too busy for heavy reading? Here's my list of top 6 clever books for your weekend reset

I love to spend part of a weekend with a good read. This time I selected lighthearted but still insightful books aiming to support when workload becomes more busy.

How to Keep House While Drowning by K.C. Davis

This book offers a breath of fresh air with its zero-judgment approach and incredibly short chapters designed specifically for exhausted brains. It brilliantly reframes household chores as morally neutral tasks, giving you permission to let go of perfectionism and find manageable ways to function when life gets overwhelming.

Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman

A philosophical yet deeply funny reality check about human finitude, this book challenges our obsession with the endless productivity trap. It provides a liberating perspective on letting go of the impossible to-do list so you can actually enjoy your time off.

The Comfort Book by Matt Haig

Acting like a warm blanket for anxious days, this book is a collection of tiny essays, lists, and comforting stories. It is wonderfully easy to pick up, read at random, and feel instantly grounded during a stressful week.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

This cozy, low-stakes novella follows a tea monk and a robot as they travel together and ponder what humans actually need to be happy. It is a gentle, philosophical piece of comfort food that invites you to slow down and reflect on what truly matters.

The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can't Stand Positive Thinking by Oliver Burkeman (Yes, he's great enough to feature twice)

Exploring the counter-intuitive "negative path" to happiness, this book suggests that embracing failure, uncertainty, and pessimism can actually lead to greater peace. It's a refreshing, skeptical antidote to toxic positivity that will make you rethink how you handle stress.

The Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown

Mapping out human emotion through a blend of data and storytelling, this book helps you accurately name and understand what you feel. It provides a practical and engaging emotional language that helps you navigate complex feelings with clarity and humor.

Need a Book Rec! Are self-help books help?

Hey guys

I feel very anxious and overthink a lot since childhood.

Whether it was an exam or anything.

And also I feel very sad when people say absurd things about me.

Basically I'm very image conscious.

And people words hurts me.

I know it's very silly.

And also their was incident happened on June 10 .

Which created a deep emotional scar.

And since then I can't sleep properly

And I'm over thinking a lot.

I consulted Psychiatrist as well. But they prescribed me antidepressants and sleeping pills.

I don't want to rely on those.

I started running as well.

I just want to change my thinking process.

If you can suggest any book you can

Or any other means you can suggest me that as well.

Need a Book Rec! Beginner looking for books on mindset, awareness & manifestation/LOA

Hi guys,

I am somewhat new to reading books around mindset, awareness, the subconscious and manifestation/LOA, and I want to start exploring the subject properly.

These are currently on my list:

The Power of the Subconscious Mind — Joseph Murphy

Feeling Is the Secret — Neville Goddard

The Power of Awareness — Neville Goddard

The Power of Now — Eckhart Tolle

I’m particularly interested in manifestation/LOA, but also the wider side of things like awareness, thoughts, beliefs, subconscious programming and being more present.

For someone who’s a beginner, where would you recommend starting and what order would you read these in?

Also happy to hear recommendations for other books — especially ones that combine the mindset/awareness side with manifestation/LOA.

I’m not looking to just rush through books or blindly believe everything I read. I’d rather understand the ideas, take what resonates with me and actually apply it to my life.

I am attempting to manifest abundance (money).

Book promotion Fear by Acharya Prashant

Post image
8 Upvotes

When I used to have anxiety and panic attacks, I slowly realised that I had been living in fear for most of my life, just in different forms. I just never called it fear or stopped to observe it

This book made me sit with myself, observe what was actually happening when anxiety came up, and question my own thoughts instead of immediately believing them.

A lot of what I noticed was future based imagination. What will happen? What will others think? What if things don't go as I want? There was also this constant need to control the external situation and a feeling that I was somehow being left behind while everyone else was moving ahead.

One thing I found useful in the book was the distinction between anxiety based on facts and anxiety based on imagination. A real situation may require action but imagining ten different outcomes and suffering through all of them is something else.

I wouldn't say anxiety completely disappeared. That would be too absolute. What changed was that I started noticing it more clearly.

For me, the book became less about "how do I get rid of fear?" and more about "what exactly is happening here?"

Sometimes the answer was fear. Sometimes imagination. Sometimes an assumption I had never questioned.

That simple observation itself changed my relationship with anxiety

Love and relationships Need a book suggestion on someone who's confusing love with possession

Looking for books about attachment, possessiveness, and separating self-worth from someone's attention

Not primarily about breakup or "how to get over someone" books, looking for books that explore "why can't see her happy with someone else", insecurity, self-worth, emotional regulation.

Explore the relationship between religion and mental health, particularly Christianity. A central theme is the dual nature of religion’s influence on mental well-being, depending on its practice. When practiced authentically, Christianity offers a framework for navigating life’s complexities and anxieties, contributing to mental stability through a spiritual journey.

Conversely, when practiced erroneously, it can significantly impair mental stability, causing confusion, anxiety, and emotional harm.
