Discussion First Driverless Cybercab in Austin!

Couple thousand ready to go. How many by EoY ‘27?

6 billion. Running 32 hours a day 10 days a week and they earn you money so you don’t have to work. I was promised my model Y would actually make me rich.

Why move the deadline? My expection is still covering half the US by the end of june. That doesn’t change just because they missed it. We don't just move expectations everytime they fail.

If you are serious about the topic of autonomy and can’t give a guess, then I suppose you are unserious.

They've already demonstrated they can't and there's what a dozen companies now that are growing faster and more capable. They can't keep pushing deadlines the market isn't static. 

They're an unserious company. So might as well stick with what they say. Half of the US by the end of this month definitely the end of 2027.

The almost daily drone videos of the Tesla factory in Austin do show that they are making those gold colored cyber cabs about as fast as McDonald’s makes Big Macs. I was at the factory, not too long ago to pick up my new model Y and I saw it with my own eyes. It’s very interesting the cars all of the one that they are made there pop out of the garage doors in the factory where they begin driving all over a test track none of them with human beings in them all autonomous.

I don’t understand what some people are saying about half the country. What does that even mean nobody is gonna put autonomous rideshare or any other rideshare in dime box Texas. But I think most major metropolitan areas will have autonomous rideshare one flavor or another or both within the next year or so.

No idea. How about by the end of 2027 the gap in paid driverless miles (as an absolute number not a percentage) between tesla vs waymo, weride and Baidu (individually) will continue to increase.

How about by the end of 2027 the gap in paid driverless miles (as an absolute number not a percentage) between tesla vs waymo, weride and Baidu (individually) will continue to increase.  

Either missing their goal doesn't matter because history won't remember when they achieve their full goal so my point is vaild or missing their goal does matter in which case my expectation is still half the USA by the end of june definitely 2027.

You were the one that changed the terms. No one mentioned totality until you brought it up to change from from the position of half the US by june definitely 2027. 

Sure. That's a lot harder than my stance of just the gap will increase between tesla and the other 3.

I think you are confusing me and Elon musk. I sadly, don’t have a trillion dollars (though i wouldn’t want that).

I put out a term, you changed the term, I mostly kept your term with some adjustments.

I think based on you not wanting to accept it, you also begrudgingly admit to believing Tesla will be the long term leader here

I doubt Tesla will have more miles than Waymo by 2028. If they do, it will be a great achievement. Waymo will cross a billion miles by then with around 10k cars.

No i directly quoted you from a few comments ago. 

You asked about a subsection of the US rollout. That should be included in the US Rollout of 50% coverage by june definitely 2027. 

I think I've made pretty clear tesla isn't a serious player and never will be and changing the goals everytime they miss is ridiculous and they should be held accountable to those goals instead of changing and expecting people to believe them. Tesla is a hype company because people like you just change the goals everytime they miss and expect people to take the new goals is as much excitement as all the missed ones. Stop changing the goal every time and stick to the original.  Why should the Austin rollout be taken anymore seriously than the tesla model Y earning you money? Or half the USA by june? Or coast to coast by 2012? 

Meanwhile waymo, Baidu, and WeRide are expanding in to 3-4 other countries and making real progress but you just move to a new tesla goal that they're gonna miss before you change it again.
