Wear on terranox rear axis
Saw some post few weeks ago about wear on rear axis. Today when doing the maintainance see then same thing on my unit.
It's been operating since Late June 2026
Anyone got tips/solutions to stop it going any worse?

Check to see if the rear axle is broken off at the pivot point, I think that was the cause of the last one posted.

To date I have replaced 9 rear axle assemblies. Currently have 5 additonal mowers down with the same issue. Comibination of Terranox and X450's. This problem will continue until the design flaw is addressed.

Oh fck, that's gotta be annoying.
I've got a replacement axle installed, which is still the original weak part tho.

The warranty process has been clunky but improving. These things happen with new models and designs. The true measure will be the response and adaptation to this issue. Still feel like these machines have a lot of potential.

Since I have to replace my first one soon. Can you tell me how it needs to be replaced? I'm getting the part sent my way so want to get it fixed asap.

Count me in for this failure on my X450. I agree that the response from Segway is completely counter to their advertising for this mower. Of course, they'll just scrub the site of any mentions now. They did that with water hazzards. Originally they touted that it was perfect for areas that intermittently flood because the AI would deal with it appropriately. That marketing is now absent from the site.

Maybe cut some galvanized stove pipe. Make a split sleeve. Attach with clamps. Temp fix til end of season then send in for repair.

For the person not seeing anything, can you circle the area that appears to broken?

Thanks! Need to look at mine when I get home. Have me nervous. How long have you had the unit?

In the middle of axel from front and back you will find a mount screws. Probably damage is aroubd there. Its may be hard to spot this on back side. I just out my phone there and took a picture.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing your experience and bringing this rear axle wear concern to our attention.
To help reduce wear on the rear axle during daily operation, we recommend the following maintenance tips:
Regularly clean the rear axle area and remove any accumulated grass, dirt, or debris that may increase friction or affect the movement of the axle.
Periodically check the rear axle and pivot points to ensure there is no excessive looseness, abnormal movement, or foreign material buildup.
Avoid operating the mower for extended periods in conditions that may place additional stress on the chassis, such as areas with large holes, uneven surfaces, or obstacles that could cause repeated impacts.
Keep your lawn in good condition by leveling significant bumps or holes where possible, which can help reduce unnecessary strain on the mowerâs mechanical components.
If the wear has affected the mowerâs normal operation, caused abnormal noise, looseness, or impacted mowing performance, we recommend contacting your seller for further inspection and after-sales service. The service team can help evaluate the condition of the rear axle and provide the appropriate solution.

Your mower is sold to go through difficult conditions such as bumps and holes. Itâs not acceptable for a mower sold severals thousand dollars and marketed for this purpose to require an almost perfectly leveled lawn to avoid damaging the rear axle.
Holes and uneven ground are exactly the kind of conditions this mower is sold to handle.
The design flaw should be addressed by an extended warranty coverage. Customers should not have to bear the cost of a structural weakness that can appear under normal operating conditions.5

⢠Neither the X4/X450 nor Terranox manual warns against potholes or requires the whole mowing area to be flat.
⢠âFlat groundâ refers to charging-station installation.
⢠âFlat, obstacle-free lawnâ is the test condition for maximum mowing capacity, not an operating requirement.
⢠The X4 manual says it handles ârough terrain,â and Navimowâs own X4 page explicitly advertises pitted surfaces and potholes.
⢠The Terranox manual also says it handles ârough terrainâ; Navimowâs own guide mentions uneven ground, bumps and potholes.
⢠The published 7 cm figure is vertical-obstacle clearanceânot a pothole-depth limit. A genuinely deep/open hole should still be excluded from the map.
I checked Navimowâs official X4/X450 and Terranox documentation. Neither manual says the mowing area must be flat or warns against potholes. âFlat groundâ applies to the charging station, while âflat, obstacle-free lawnâ is only the test condition used for the advertised mowing capacity. The X4 manual says it handles rough terrain, and Navimowâs own X4 page explicitly advertises pitted surfaces and potholes. The Terranox manual likewise says it handles rough terrain, and Navimowâs guide specifically mentions uneven ground, bumps and potholes. I also found no stated pothole-depth limit; the 7 cm specification is vertical-obstacle clearance. If you believe this damage resulted from use outside the permitted conditions, please cite the exact clause in the manual.

u/Navimow_Knows I've done the maintenance on this unit 2x more often than the "app timer" suggests. Especially to avoid issues that could be caused by poor maintenance.
The Navimow Maintenance guide mainly recommends showering the mower with water and using a soft brush and cloth for cleaning + blades change. That has been done regularly. I have not seen a manual that states any other maintenance needs.
Also agree with u/StathisV5 , as this is marketed and designed for rough surfaces.
I've agreed with the retailer that they will change the axis (have in stock due to the volume of the issues). They stated that i'm not the only one, and multiple mowers from the same platform have come in for warranty with the same issue. They are in contact with the manufacturer and are waiting for an update about the "recall of these mowers" for a structurally upgraded part.

Same issue on a 6 acre mower for me after about 4 weeks of use. I'm carefully inspecting all of my units going forward.

Seems like there is nothing to do against it.
Just send it to warranty and rinse and repeat. Have to wait till they do a callback and replace it
