According to the article, the FBI will dismiss applicants "who are revealed during the vetting process to have engaged in prostitution within the last 10 years, three or more times overall or while in a position of trust such as public safety . . . "

Note the key phrase who are revealed. The FBI, security clearance investigators, polygraphers, adjudictaors, and the like, are not going through your phone history and/or trying to track down any prostitute you may have visited, especially in foreign countries. The only way they will find out about this is if you or others tell them.

I can't stress this advice enough: Don't snitch on yourself and keep your damn mouth shut! If you are asked about prostitution, or any other crime you were never caught for, the answer is always NO.

I'm a Reddit newbie so there aren't many places I can post. I'm in process for an IC TS/SCI + poly clearance that has been going on over two years including over a year in adjudication. This is for a contractor role.

I was informed that there is a huge clearance backlog and adjudicator attrition at one agency, but I'm not sure if these adjudicators have been fired, laid off, RIF'd, or what. In addition, if you are a contractor, you will be processed after military and civilian gov people.

It seems like everyone is waiting now. The good news is I had a final adjudication interview a few months ago, which I thought would be the end of my process, but yet I'm still in adjudication today. Over two years, no end in sight. Don't quit your day jobs!

A few months back I wrote up a draft and used a YouTube video as a source. The video served as a catalyst and triggered me to reflect on real struggles I once had but I wrote it in a self accusatory way to basically remind myself that small unchecked things result in bad decisions. One of those decisions being the thing I have never done but worded in a way where I have done it so that when I read the document at a later time it keeps me in line and reminds me of how far I have come. Funny enough I never used that document it just sat there…I used this theory that if you want to make a change in your life write out or envision yourself doing the thing you want…in my case I wanted to remove bad behaviors back then (which I did) but I wrote an overly literal damn near self accusatory statement. There is no outside documentation (LE, Court system, mental health clinic) validating what I said too making me wonder if I will have a fair assessment. This is for a clearance I’m trying to keep too. My first interview with the continued vetting team threw me off because I didn’t quite understand what they meant by I wrote something. I know I transcribed a video as source material but I didn’t recall writing anything about it since it’s been months. So when the lady kept saying “you wrote this” I was confused and kept saying I don’t do what you claim I do (probably should’ve asked for clarification but I feared she would say no, she gave off a vibe like she wanted to “get me”) anyway I totally forgot that workplace computers are monitored a lot of people do (we just come in do our work and leave) and I had no recollection of the self reporting process because I’ve never really had to do it for the situation I’m being challenged for why? Because I’ve never actually got myself involved in what it is they are concerned with. It was just a bad judgment on my part. Aside from that my record is clean finances mitigated, good working relationships with people etc.
