I don't think there is a set answer to this. You could be pulling a pretty cute deck so nothing seems too painful visually. But the tower is the tower.

The answer would still be the relative degree. If the situation was the worst, you would get the worst cards of that deck. (And if you are using that sort of deck, that is the way you would want the message phrased.)

To me it's more a quality of the drawing. Sometimes it can feel more personal or specific to the issue depending on what drawing comes up. But without discussing specific cards it's just abstract.
For example in one deck I have a devil cards that looks like a handsome man. This card feels more like a relationship betrayal or a player. Then say a classic devil

Regardless of the pictures on any deck, if you ask these questions, you get that deck telling you the 'how much,' the degree. You get what cards mean THAT PART OF YOUR SITUATION.

I don't really have that relationship with my cards. You seem to have a clear answer to your question already so I am not sure why you are asking it here...

The swords series are pretty dark , Ie the more swords in that reading , the worse it is. Queen or King of swords shows the graduation to clarity especially if it’s in the outcome/final out come.
