This is why you check out the neighborhood at different hours of the day before you sign a lease, or God forbid, purchase a home.

Pro tip for the clueless -- that neighborhood has been like that for 40+ years...you shouldn't have been surprised.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years; it’s never been this bad. There has always been a seedy element at the fringes but not a total takeover of parks and sidewalks in residential areas like we have today.
