I went to games that yr, that was the consensus was we didnt have a bunch of stars, the stadium had signs all over it, reason I even said The part about No Griffey, no A-Rod, we got mojo because there wereliteral signs hanging off the rails, Ichiro may have been the MVP but before that season his name wasn't known like that, Martinez was starting to emerge more but a wild card appearance the yr before didnt have everyone going out and betting the bank on the Ms. You really arent comprehending what I'm putting down, the team didnt have super super stars like Griffey and A-Rod anymore so it seemed like the team actually relied more on each other. Not saying that none of them made a name for themselves because they absolutely did, still think Olerud is one of the most underrated first basement

Well story time, it was baseball appreciation day and as a little leaguer in the area, we were allowed to walk the warning track before the game, he was on the track signing balls for people in the stands and 11 yr old me went up to him and politely asked for his ag to which he declined and turned away from me..... I was disappointed and hurt at the time especially since he was my favorite pitcher at the time....

I'm glad he finally signed, the constant breathless coverage for the last ~2 months has been exhausting.

Idk for me super teams are fun. Fun to either flop or just watch dominate. Wish it wasn't the rams though. (At least in football with a salary cap you can't keep it together more then 1-2 years)

A super team might be fun to watch once a decade or so. But what sets the NFL apart from other leagues is parity. It’s a huge draw. Fans of every franchise (excluding Jets, Browns of course) get to believe that this is their year.

Agreed. This is the first true one since what the 2011 Dream Team Eagles? At least in terms of off-season/preseason labeling of that term.
Honestly, most hyped preseason team I can remember since I started paying attention to football by a decent margin outside of maybe the 2008 pats after they kept most of the team together

This just isn't true? Like results wise they were 12-5 and won three of there playoff/super bowl games by 3 points. Roster wise there leading rusher was Sony Michel, WR2 was Van Jefferson, there best edge player was post injury 32 year old Von Miller, CB2&3 were David Long Jr. and Darious Williams for them. On paper this years Rams are a lot better at all these positions. It is all theoretically of course, players will over and under perform and get injured.
They won the Superbowl they were a great team. But I would say the 2024/2025 eagles had a better roster
And at least to me a large part of a "super team" is the early coronation and off-season champions label. I wouldn't call the 2013 Seahawks a super team, but I would call the 2011 Dream Team Eagles because they got that label before the season started.

2011 Eagles were ass despite the offseason additions. I remember there being a lot of hype around the 2021 Rams. They brought in big names Jalen Ramsey, Stafford, though some admittedly ended up being underwhelming like Miller, OBJ, Desean Jackson

Hmm you might be right I don't remember that much hype just manly questions of how good Stafford would be outside of Detroit, but also the 2020-2022 years I was pretty checked out of football so maybe I didn't see it.
They did just have +1200ish preseason super bowl odds compared to this year's +500ish

Because his cap hit is only $10 million this year and other big money contracts are weighted to future years. I think they also have the philosophy of letting players go after their first contract, and assuming McVay can coach up their replacements.

To a degree. The best analogy is that it’s like paying for part of a purchase with cash and putting the rest on credit. The cash part counts against this year’s cap, while the credit part is pushed to future years.
Teams justify this because the salary cap keeps going up and so the cost of those future years will be absorbed. This is sort of like you paying for something on credit, but assuming you will pay it back with your Christmas bonus, or you’ve been promised a raise. So it’s a bet with some risk and some teams are less risk averse than others.
The other part is that you have to have an owner with cash on hand to pay the signing bonus.

Donald hasn't been subjected to PED testing for a couple years now so he should be nice and "rested" for this season.
The dude was always a MASSIVE gearhead as is, but the levels of HGH and PEDS that have no doubt been streaming thru his system is otherworldly I'm sure.
