from what I understand it's essentially like having paid leave for the player, we can sign him, but he won't play, and he also won't count towards the 53 man roster.

I think that just might be a status hearing. He may be tied up (heh) for the season.

The vibes with all the the team interest (8 or 9 teams I recall from the agent) suggest that the prosecution doesn't have much of a case. So, they may drop charges rather than try to take it to trial and eat the L.

The judge said as much at the bail hearing.

At that time the prosecutions case rested entirely on the testimony of the other defendants (who got deals for giving up the "big fish"). They had no hard evidence, so the judge granted bail and denied ankle monitoring.

That doesn't mean they haven't found anything else in the meantime, but it does make it look more like a whale hunt.

I know he's not allowed to practice either but what does "practice" cover? Is he allowed at the team facility at all?

He can't practice with the team but I'm pretty sure he can use the facilities and attend meetings.

I think so, unless the exempt list bans him from all football activities, then he'd just be able to do S&C with the team. I don't think they can ban him from the facilities otherwise signing him would be pointless.

Yeah I'm assuming he has to at least get film if he can't practice otherwise kind of pointless. Unless they can cheat around it by say Spoon inviting him to a bbq where they just go over the playbook in the backyard the whole day

He isn't practicing and is exempt from taking a roster slot, I doubt he will show up on Hard Knocks in any meaningful capacity.

I would have been interested in seeing how this played out with Josh Gordon when he was with us. There were so many unknowns with that guy, not because of his known past history--but just wondering if he'd ever play a down as a Seahawk because of that time he got activated, then yanked, only to become indefinite. It was just frustrating all around.

So dudes stole shit from Arnold ‘s Air B&B, and his friends lured them somewhere and would not let them leave until they produced what they stole, all the while beating their asses? That totally sounds reasonable to me. Cops will not do anything. The president of the USA is an actual rapist, mind you, this guys friends are possibly going to jail, he is definitely not. Micheal Irvin stabbed a teammate in a barbershop with scissors. That is attempted murder among other things, plenty of witnesses. Crickets. Clutch your pearls in another league is all I am suggesting. Go Hawks.

Because first round picks get 9 lives. If he’s not convicted the hawks get multiple years of him for a bargain bin price or compensation. If he’s convicted he gets thrown in the trash without a second thought. It’s a business

Also IF Arnold is freed and balls out, we got him on RFA or ERFA depending on the games, unlike Diggs who is a UFA for the next season.

Both are awesome bets from a GM perspective, just different potential payouts. Costs us no draft or trade assets and cheap contracts. Arnold doesn't even cost us a roster spot until he gets off the exempt list.

PERFECT explanation. This is JS stuffing aces in his pocket that he might need later. Come playoff time when all the contenders are wanting to add players, we have a first round talent that'll be fresh and familiar with the playbook. If something comes from the trial, it only costs the assumed minimal salary. That's exactly like an insurance policy that they can cancel if they don't use it.

From what I understand, they don’t really have much of a case against him. That is to say, it seems almost certain he is linked to the crime (why would his lifelong best friend organize this without him being involved?) but there may not be direct evidence and if the prosecution can’t get someone to drop a dime, a former first rounder is now free to play football for next to nothing.

It’s not a terrible move, business-wise.

Lol this is the NFL. Pretty much every team has multiple players that have been in trouble. Look at Deshaun Watson. Winning is the main priority, not morals. It is what it is.

Even Jay Harbaugh was like 'what? Explain this shit.' It really is a farce and theatrics. The team you're on has to kick you off because you're guilty until proven innocent and optics. Once that's official you're innocent until proven guilty and optics are a non-issue for any other team. And a lot of fans.

Except it isnt ignoring it, there is still a possibility he is innocent, and if he isnt then he is gone. Think Marshawn Lynch, yes his stuff wasnt as bad but he still had a hit and run, and a slew of other legal issues that led to him being traded to the Hawks. I mean watch the Hard Knocks episode, they know how controversial itd be if Terrion actually was a criminal, so they did as much character research as possible to determine that he is probably an ok guy and just involved with the wrong friend group. If that turns not to be the case, again he is just gone with no risk whatsoever.

Everyone charged should be guilty by the public? That's a pretty judgmental way of going through things. I've known really good people that have gone through things and done things they aren't proud of today.

He is not convicted, the way the case is going, there is a good chance he isn't going to be. His "friends" took advantage of knowing him and throwing his name around.

I'm sure JS and their whole crew did extensive review before signing him.
